that's nothing compared to doggy bakeries on north shore long island. people that have money to buy pastries for their dogs should be shot. their money should be redistrubited to people who actually need it.

Hah, I used to go to school with a girl who did not realise that the snacks she bought at the doggie bakery were dog snacks, not people snacks. I think she thought it was more pet shop/coffee bar than it actually was.

Those folks are crazy. If cat food is good enough for little old ladies with bad pensions, it's good enough for the cat.

I see France has made you a socialist, huzzah :)

All cause he can't pee.

I don't even like the cat, he's a vicious, mercurial, tempermental little beast. He is family though. But he's on my shit list, even more than usual.

what's he got? crystals? they usually just fix that with diet.

Except that the fucking demon cat fat ass will eat any damn thing he can get his mitts on, including dog food and anything we might drop on the floor, edible or not.

He's gonna end up killing himself, and unless he does a damn sight better at endearing himself to me, and specifically to me, he can take a fucking flying leap straight into the jaws of hell.

You can't trust cats.

Just checked on the little guy . . . he's getting better, and yeah it was crystals and a diet issue. I find that weird because he's been eating the same food for five years. I'm thinking maybe he's been digging into the puppy chow?

I agree with POD that this is WAY too much money to spend on a cat, however, he's my baby. I know if cats had money, he'd spend it on me, right after catnip and hooker cats of course.

psst, phil & deena, are you still thinking chicago for a bit? I will be needing a break from this:

http://www.vanderbilt.edu/AEA/Papers.htm

and feel duty bound to buy some late birthday drinks since buying your own is so very very wrong.

It's a possibility . . . we are still assessing our options. Also, I have to stay in my store until December because the company requires you stay in each store a minimum of one year before you are eligible for transfer. Honestly, I will probably have to ride out holiday and not be able to go anywhere until late January anyway. They also want a six month warning of transfer so, a lot of thought needs to go into any decision for us because once I commit I am stuck for a year come hell or high water. Stress level up . . . I usually just like to wing it.

also we're thinking about austin again instead of l.a.

Love billyg, dri, and tania for real, but ...

1. we don't know what I'd do for a living while trying to make it and it's pricey out there.
2. we could someday afford a trailer in l.a., or a house in austin
3. even if all I did was be a schlub, we could make it in a-tx on her salary. Not that i'd ever do that to her, but if i was between gigs, we wouldn't starve or be evicted.

but

1. other than austin, you can give TX back to mexico

Kind of torn.

Anyhow, Shelley, if you need a break, we're here. For awhile.

I mean, we'd love to stay in chicago, but it's been on the decline ever since laura left in the 80s, or whenever it was.

Just got a cat about a month ago from the humane society.
The thing is a machine! Six mice and a vol in five days*. She's got the bloodlust worse than Steven Segal in Out For A Kill*. She usually mames a gecko before breakfast as well. Faster, Pussycat, kill. kill. kill!

*Please Note: The vacant acre across the street was recent cut back, evicting many of the fauna previously dwelling there, and driving them towards my place, mice are not a common part of my homestead. I do not have a working knowledge of Steven Segal's body of work, I used IMDb for this reference.

I have a lot of restaurant experience and was raised in a bar.

Actually, we aren't great with the decision making anyway, I don't think we need another option.

We should just start a poll and let obner decide.

I have a date with a nurse practicioner coming up becuase DumpJack told me to. Will update on the wisdom of obner-mediated life choices.

Baltimore's cheap but the tunes are down in dc and you might have to go agit-punk. And very few starbucks in the city - plenty in the burbs if you don't mind the commute.

Yeah, I didn't think I would win that one. I like it here, but not what you're looking for.

No, there are tunes. But Phil's going for more than good local band stuff, I gather, and those guys seem to have to go away to do it. Not too many national acts based out of here.

We have a deal that he will never make me live in the burbs. There is nothing appealing about that to me at all. I think all those people that commute into the city are nuts. I would kill myself doing that everyday, I have serious road-rage issues and no patience for stupid people.

Bad Idea.

With Phil's luck lately, Borg would be the tie breaking vote and I don't think you want to put any important decisions in Borg's hands.

Yeah, i want to play bass for a living. I have no qualms playing music I don't like, but playing it well, and playing music I like on the side.

Like Tim Smith who played with Jellyfish, then toured with Sheryl Crow while working his own band, The Umajets.

or more famously, like Nathan east playing for Phil Collins and Eric Clapton, while playing with the craptacularly boring and horribly monikered Fourplay.

But ideally like Tony Levin who makes bank with Peter Gabriel and Seal, and records with all kinds of people I admire, who apparently admire him too.

That's what I want.

You know, reading what I just wrote makes it seem like L.A. is where I should be. If i fail, we can bail to A-TX and buy a house.
