and this surprised you?

Yes - even with my low expectations, it somehow managed to be even less than I expected. In a way, that's kind of an admirable feat to accomplish, but not enough to make me want to listen to it again.

While a couple of tracks have grown on me, I've found DBT's A Blessing and a Curse to be a disappointment after their SRO, DD, TDS run.

commence public lashing.

Broken Social Scene

Broken Social Scene is from 2005. And it was the album of the fricken' year.

You're right, the albums I listed did come out in 2005. Doh! It's all been a blur.

Anyway, I just didn't like the 2nd BSS album as much as I liked the first and the same for Rogue Wave. Their follow up sounds like something I would hear on the adult contemporary radio stations sandwiched in between Sheryl Crow and Coldplay and lacks the charm the first album had. Just my opinion.

Now for 2006... I'm not a fan of the new Strokes album.

I'll go with Flaming Lips. I think I actually like the new Stills better than the first. It doesn't have the one or two really great tracks the first one did but I think it's better on the whole.
