Having happily sang along to all three discs of this set earlier this week:

..I definitely loves me them Hollies, but I have to say that they consistently had some of the worst, most juvenile lyrics of their time. That whole "I'm 12 and love playing hopscotch with my schoolgirl crush la dee da dee" thing gets really old and kinda creepy long about the 10th song in a row. Their sound was too good for such snivelling crap lyrics.

Even my beloved girl groups didn't usually stoop that low.

By the way--the Sing Hollies in Reverse tribute album is surprisingly good.

Totally agree about the Hollies lyrics. They wuzn't exactly deep thinkers. And by "not deep thinkers" I mean that between the four of them they didn't have two thoughts to rub together.

I love (LOVE) Jon Brion's epic version of "Sorry Suzanne" on that.

"King Midas In Reverse" is the best of the lot, and it's not enough to reel me in. Any time spent listening to The Hollies is time that could have been spent listening to The Pretty Things or Them or The Kinks or The Yardbirds or The Stones or The Who or...

I always liked "Long Cool Woman" but never understood how the Hollies, the same band that did "Bus Stop" and "He Ain't Heavy" did that song.

I like the Hollies, good 60s band that's fun to pull out every now and then.
