haha... be nice!!

not quite. in a weird turn of events, the white trash girl actually embraces the weird couple that turned her into a truck stop ho.

ps. while driving to milwaukee yesterday, i discovered that one of z's and my friends is a fan of the safehouse. he said he had a steak while he was there. was that not an option for us?

You had a menu. You could have read it.

I recall that you weren't all that hungry and/or not all that hungry for grease.

(Why you'd live in Chicago, then, is beyond me....)

they didn't give us menus. I think that's why I was annoyed.

And when I'm hungry, I don't want fried appetizers. I want real food. And I love grease.

Ryan, did you see Soul Asylum or the Hip?

we were near the stage during soul asylum but didn't really watch. we were seated by the water. i left to get one of those awesome Robby's Roasted Corn cobs and overheard 'Somebody to Shove' and it sounded awesome.

we saw Diamond Dave on saturday night which was just surreal. then halfway thru me and the wife jumped over to where the Go-Gos where playing. they finished, and we watched the rest of DD. I was just in awe that i was watching fucking David Lee Roth. not really a good or bad awe, just a general shock.

yesterday we hopped around and then ended up watching Joan Jett. the sound on her stage was great. they sounded pretty good, i guess. the lead guitarist who thought he was Sid Vicious was pretty annoying.

i really wish I could have seen My Morning Jacket play tonight.

who did you see?

the wife also told me that Dave Pirner has one of those fancy Bon Jovi haircuts now and she was not amused.

I saw Soul Asylum and the Tragically Hip. Dave Pirner's voice was pretty shot, but it was still an awesome show. I popped in for Joan Jett's set after using the port-a-crappers. The Hip was fantastic as always. Guess who sat behind us? Dave Coulier from Full House. He was huge and drunk.

Z and I might head up there tonight for MMJ. I can't wait to see Jim and the boys on such a small stage. Holy shit, is that going to be good.

Are you going to the Taste tomorrow to see MMJ and Ray Davies?

I love your wife without even knowing her. I said the same thing yesterday. I was like, "I'm not sure I like this cleaned up Dave Pirner. I liked thinking that I might catch something from him.

yeah MMJ is at the miller lite stage, right? that's where DLR was at. and yeah, $15 to see MMJ outside in the summer would be pretty awesome.

i didn't know both of them were playing at the taste tomorrow. i probably won't go. no matter the band, i just can't take it being among all those people. i saw wilco a few years ago at the taste, and they were great, but i promised myself i wouldn't go back to that monstrosity. it was pretty nice with the summerfest not being nearly as crowded.

stay far, far away from the Iron Skillet off the highway in Racine. our collective bowels were put through the ringer.

I'm taking a chair, my own food, and a book. I'm not going to be f'ing around with those crowds. I met Z over there for lunch on Friday and it was a nightmare.

And MMJ is at the same SMALL (!!!!!!!!) stage that Soul Asylum and the Hip played. That's the only reason I'm as excited as I am. Little stage = big fat rock from the boys.

and there's something liberating stomping on top of picnic tables with drunk milwaukee-ians and with a beer in tow shouting along to Running With the Devil.

I'll teach you chess and not just the moves. I'll teach you the folly of a fianchettoed bishop, the inpenetrable Botvinnik Stone Wall defence and the theory of Dialectical Materialism.

If you show an apptitude for that we can move on to Hungry Hippos.

You have yourself a deal, mister.

Thanks, Philip. That girl in the picture. That's me. Well, my eye makeup is much better, but the look on her face, yeah, that's my look.

Anyway, it would appear Darrin is going to help me out, so I found a sweet rocking horsey to ride all day instead.

I had a woman walk into my store and say "Is Alice in here?".

I replied with "Yeah, she was here, like, ten minutes ago. Are you Beth?".

Actually, I didn't, but I should have.
