I just remembered that I've actually seen the Rolling Stones and AC/DC live. I don't remember a thing and I didn't enjoy either set very much but there you have it.

6. stabbing westward - i've seen them twice and they're not near any of my favorite bands. i liked them at the time (mid 90s) & find them kind of annoying now. only reason i saw them twice was that they played summerfest a few times and were the best thing on at that moment AND i just happen to be at that spot on the summerfest grounds.

They were amazing around that time. I caught three or four times over the span of Ideal Copy and Bell Is A Cup.

One of my favorite live concert experiences is Drill---ten to fifteen minutes of crescendo. Spectacular.

Other stuff:

Dramarama pre-Wonderamaland

ditto. Especially the first time in 1992 when they were still wearing masks.

-I CAN'T BELIEVE the scene at the first Lollapalooza in 1991. It was before "alternative" became mainstream so there wasnt the more fratty/meathead crowd that you had in later years. It was like all these little clusters of goths, pseudo hippies and punk rockers from all over Atlanta finally found themselves in the same place at the same time. Like "Damn, I've seen some freaks around town, but I had no idea there were enough chicks in purple lipstick, black and white tights and 18-eye Docs and scary looking acid casualty dudes to fill up the Lakewood Ampitheatre. My own acid casualty brain was sure they were gonna just lock the gates, get on the stage and make the announce ment in a Chief Wiggam voice, "Alright freaks, we gotcha"

Edit: Also The Butthole Surfers both at that show and subsequently.

I can't believe I saw them either especially Lux Interior wearing leopard print speedos, no shirt and stiletto heels.

I'm glad I saw X in the late 80s (maybe early 90s -- whenever Exene was preggers with Viggo Mortenson's baby). I declined seeing them on their new/latest tour (didn't want to erase great memory of them so long ago).

Ermm...also I should say Cocteau Twins even though I saw them 3 times in total but not until the 90s. I was completely obsessed wtih CT from my junior year of highschool through to college. At college, I barely had even seen pictures of CT as they never had them on their releases. Then I started getting a hold of some copies of magzines with them in it and was completely in awe of Liz and her magnetic eyes. Then, I travelled to D.C. to see them (all three times) -- thought they would never tour the US (then I met Simon Raymonde at a record store and subsequently embarrassed myself just like I'm doing in this post).

Ok, I'll just stop there...because I'm a spaz.

Same outfit as when I saw him, and his felatio performance on the mic would have made Linda Lovelace blush.

Ohhh, and Poison Ivy!!!

One of the times I caught 'em, Lux was breaking microphone stands over his head. The pants were very shiny leather, with pumps. And yeah, Ivy.

Roy Ayres in a tiny little building which wasn't really a club and wasn't really a wearhouse.

all the white kids were young and grungy, all the black dudes were in their 50's and dressed like they were going to church. It was pretty awesome.

I caught that tour. That was at a point in my life when I enjoyed Spin Doctors way, way more than I should ever admit to in public...especially this board.

In no order:

1. The Cure (Disintegration tour) at Dodger Stadium with opening bands being the Pixies, Love and Rockets, and Shellyan Orphan (Sept. 8, 1989)
2. Nirvana was opening for Sonic Youth and was right before Nevermind came out. Also saw the third to the last show Nirvana ever played on December 30, 1993. One of the most intense shows I have ever seen, unbelievable.
3. Echo and the Bunnyman and New Order together on two stright nights.
4. "Call the Cops" Featuring the Happy Mondays, Adamski, and 808 State.
5. Teenage Fanclub (Bandwagonesque tour) at Fairfax High in Los Angeles.

I couldn't stop at five so here are the next five:

6. Pink Floyd at the Rose Bowl around 1994 or so.
7. David Bowie –Glass Spider tour and in the summer of 1990.
8. Jane's Addition with NIN
9. the Smiths I happened to see three times.
10. Depeche Mode wins with about twelve times seeing them.
