I'm not sure I should tackle this one. I've had all of his albums on mp3 (a few legit copies, too) for like two years now, and there's still a bunch, mainly earlier ones, that I don't know.

I don't own II or Up on the Sun, I should. I think No Strings attached has songs from those albums on it, though.

As for Kid A, I really love some of the songs and it was a toss-up between putting that or Pablo Honey last for me. Ultimately, there are more tracks I skip on Kid A than on Pablo Honey so I put Kid A last. I certainly don't "hate" Kid A by any means.

Man, that Meat Puppets list needs to be fixed!

Here's my shot:
Up On the Sun
II
Too High To Die
Huevos
Out My Way (EP)
Mirage
Forbidden Places
Monsters
No Joke!
Meat Puppets

(I haven't heard the last one, but don't count it as a true Pups album, anyway.)

EDIT: And "No Strings..." is a comp from the SST years.

Thats the extent of my knowledge; Muswell Hillbillies is one of my top 10 or 15 favorite albums of ALL time. Somehow it bridges the mental gap between Revolver, Pet Sounds, and Exile......And, no I can't explain it..

You need to correct that really soon. The Rykodisc reissues are really nice, and you should be able to find them pretty cheap.

edit: and I really wish I hadn't gotten rid of Too High to Die when I was in high school...

I think Too High to Die is amazing. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. I've considered buying the reissues several times but just never got around to it. I'll move them up my priority list.

My Wilco list is:
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Being There
Summerteeth
A.M.
A Ghost is Born

And since they're my favorite band...
Dinosaur Jr.:
Where You Been
You're Living All Over Me
Green Mind
Bug
Without a Sound
Hand it Over

I guess "hate" is too strong a word. I guess I'm always surprised/puzzled when people like Amnesiac and HTTT more. Not to mention Pablo Honey.

Pretty much the same with me right now, but my top 3 for them can shuffle around pretty regularly. I have a feeling that whenever Wowee Zowee gets reissue treatment, it'll move back up to my number 1 spot.

Exactly.

I agree with your ranking of the first 3 Wire albums, but I could never stand A Bell Is a Cup. How would you rank Colin Newman solo stuff among those?

I never really liked A Bell is a Cup, until revisiting it this year when I found a new appreciation for it. In general I resisted, and to an extent still do, Wire's first comeback in the '80s, but now I think both the albums I listed from that period are pretty good, and of course A Serious of Snakes is among their best songs.

As for Colin Newman's solo albums, I only have A-Z, Provisionally Entitled... and Bastard, if I were to rank them within Wire's work it would look like this...

154
Pink Flag
Chairs Missing
A-Z (Wire's 4th album?)
A Bell Is A Cup
Read & Burn 1&2
Bastard
The Ideal Copy
A Singing Fish

Have you seen the DVD Wire: On The Box? It's very good, and well worth it for a Wire fan. There is a 20 minute interview after the performance that is quite interesting. The "concert" takes place between the releases of Chairs Missing and 154 and half the songs performed are from the yet to be released at the time 154. In the interview, bass player Graham Lewis says that they have enough songs for two albums when they next go into the studio, and that there would be 2 Wire releases in 1979, lending more strength to the argument that A-Z is closer to a Wire album, then to a Colin Newman Solo project.
