The Js are down in the 600 - 700 area.

Maybe next time, instead of numbers between 2 and 1500 I'll ask everyone to just pick numbers between 20 and 30 like we're doing today.

I feel good about this, but an uninformed. Inform me.

There isn't much info out there about Jenny Mae. Here's her entry at AMG.

Dammit. AMG isn't letting me link to that page. Here it is in text:
AMG Wrote:
Ohio-born and -based singer/guitarist/keyboardist Jenny Mae started her musical career as a trumpet player in her high school and college marching bands, and branched out to playing rock in bands like Hot Rod and the Rahvers during her studies at Ohio State University.

Her last band, Vibralux, was also the most popular, gaining attention for its sweet but gritty sound and Jenny Mae's breathy vocals. The band released a few acclaimed singles but split before a full-length work could be recorded; rather than waste the songs she wrote, Jenny Mae switched to a solo career.

After a split single with fellow Ohioans Guided By Voices, Jenny Mae released her debut album, There's a Bar Around the Corner...Assholes. The album featured a supporting band of friends from Ohio — bands like Gaunt, Moviola, and the New Bomb Turks, and expanded on the solid pop ground she covered with Vibralux while exploring country, jazz, and electronic styles. Jenny Mae continued developing her sound on the 1998 follow-up Don't Wait Up for Me.

I've got two of her albums. Don't Wait Up For Me from 1998 is the more polished of the two, and a total charmer. It swings from fuzzy pop to country to piano ballads to instrumentals led by Jenny Mae on trumpet. Her previous album, the excellently titled There's A Bar Around The Corner... Assholes (1995) was pretty rough. Still worthwhile though. And the liner notes are simultaneously cute and heartbreaking, ending with this paragraph:

Jenny Mae Wrote:
I have a bad drinking problem. If someone played on this record and was not properly credited - it's because, well, I was drunk. I was drunk when we recorded, drunk when we did the credits, and drunk right now.
