My vote for the best sugar-filled breakfast: the place here in TO that makes french toast out of chocolate croissants. It's SICK. Oh... and then they put whipped cream and maple syrup on it. SICK.

At Nelly's, this breakfast place in Calgary, they used full one cinnamon buns to make the french toast. I didn't have it, opting instead for the 'Break the Fast', a Ukranian special that had perogies, fried onions, smoked sausage, eggs and sour cream. It was magnificant.

For over a year and a half, my son and I ate at IHOP once a week (in the evening), partly because it's food we can both agree on, and partly because they have cute waitresses who got to know us.

We've sinced backed off from our once a week schedule at IHOP, but still go there probably once a month to see the... errr, have breakfast.

I ate at Cracker Barrel today. Unfortunately, I found out that it's run by a bunch of Tom DeLay-loving, queer-hating, racist crazies.

They serve awesome food though.

And you assumed they weren't rednecks, even though they named their restaurant the Cracker Barrel?

My IHOP freakout story (and yes, for the record I have lost my shit in just about every chain restaurant at least once):

So my old roomie and I are sitting in the IHOP in Athens that was right across from our apartments in the back booth right by the kitchen door (I am facing the kitchen) Drunk.

I notice just because that this gallon of milk has been sitting up on the make table in the back for awhile (because of course, its taking forever) not in the milk-friendly refrigeration of the reach-in or walk-in. Of course I then witness one of the waitresses pouring someone a glass of this warm ass counter milk.

Needless to say I "stopped" her on her way back out to the tables and we had some heated words. Loudly. It was a bit of a scene.

Not a fan.

nothing worse than IHOP. there are 10 better breakfast spots w/n walking distance to my house. craker barrel is 10x better and its still marginal.

IHOP = FTBT. Waffle House is where its at, pimpin.

Agreed. Back in the early-to-mid-90's they used to have a $4.99 "All You Can Eat" special during off hours. Hoooooly shit, we used to pack it on....start with a salad, then have a burger, & top it off with a waffle for dessert.

Best deal EVER.

you guys have Huddle House? Sometimes those joints are pretty good, too.

The major exception being the one in Athens. Lets just say I got food poisoning and won't be going back.

I've learned that not all IHOPs are the same. The older ones have questionable food and service, while the newer ones have different menus.

Once again Monty misreads the staggering depth of frostingspoon's heady insight, and what not.
