I was just listening to that Wolfmother for the first time this weekend, and I don't think it's too bad, but it escapes me how they became popular here and a great band like You Am I never gets recognition in the U.S.

Exactly.

Ever had a chance to catch You Am I live? Spectacular.

Long story short, any chance they had of breaking through was ruined by the guy who owned their local label trying to play the majors here off against each other so he could get the best deal for himself. Switched majors his rooART was associated with right at the time (I think) Hourly, Daily was released, but it wasn't to take effect till a few months later, so the parent company in the US (who up to that point had been very supportive) felt no need to promote the album properly since they wouldn't be the ones to get the future benefit if they band did actually get popular.

Meanwhile, the world gets Wolfmother and Jet...

Is it another Iggy Pop cover? I loved their cover of Lust for Life

the wolfmother record is okay. It's nothing groundbreaking, but at least it's not that godawful D4 shit. It seems to me like you guys dislike their fans more than the band.

I can't stand Mike Patton. I really have an unreasonable dislike of the man.

With not even one note heard, I prefer the first FNM record -- Chuck Mosely on vocals, not Patton, correct? -- to subsequent releases. 'Nough said.
