Get in line behind Bob.
Anyway, I was only to post in here to correct an omission... That said, I
loath nickisnotdead. &, his band sucks (if he's still in a band).
&, thinking on that, I have to say, it's funny as shit that the MKE hardcore/post-core/whatever-the-f-it's-loud-and-assaultive-in-a-good-way band Since By Man, in the liner notes on its most recent album, thanked Sam Keck (who I didn't know to know the boys in SBM) but not Chris Roberts, et. al, (who I did know to know those same boys). Anyway, it's funny, because while S. Keck was in a middling Bad Religion style punk band in high-school, and had the misfortune to be the younger brother of Matt Keck (of whom I knew thru, of all people, "nickisnotdead" and NIND's friend retrovirus, and who is a misanthrope on par with, if not Elvis Fu, at the least, Shiv), the other, more recent (this is comparing '95-6 to '98-9) friends of nickisnotdead, i.e. Chris Roberts, Joe Rizzo, the rest of the American Radio Police, were committed punkers, in some cases with potential as lifers, with an extensive knowledge of the scene where the scene matters in MKE, i.e. Riverwest, Eastside, Bay View (I guess, though even by '99, it was still a coupla years away from being extrinsically chic). Yet, who got thanked on
Pictures from the Hotel Apocalypse? Not the
real punkers, with connections that ran deep, but the guy with roots in 'Stallis -- same as nickisnotdead and Chris Roberts, sure, but in a different way; unlike them, he never declared as his singular purpose moving up from that "blue-collar hell-hole" -- and a stint in a very average punk band, and who was suspect as a bigot since his two older brothers were assholes. It's just funny, that way.
nickisnotdead, he tried so hard... & yet, he still ends up with a plain girl (with whom I saw him taking in
Ballad of Ricky Bobby on opening weekend; that choice in movie seemed a bit gauche, too, for "nick's" taste, and thinking on it, still leaves me surprised).
