WOW. Just wow. I keep thinking I cannot be amazed anymore, and then something like this happens.

So looking at people whose jobs are based on claims of upholding a set of values (priests, republicans, etc), what's the percentage of them living in secret, direct opposition to those values? I think it's higher than most people would believe.

So, should Boehner and Hastert be forced to step down? I mean, isn't that illegal or something to know about that and not report it? child endangerment? I don't know, it just feels really, really wrong to allow those guys to stay in power after trying to cover something like that up.

That was kinda my point in that MTP thread--I hadnt really considered that aspect of this thing until it was brought up there.

Yeah, I mean shit, that aint good, although it would be naive to think that they didnt know about it on both sides of the aisle.

I'd guess that the fuzzy line defining who knew and who didn't will keep any and all prosecution to just the guy who actually TT'd.

Not unlike the motorcycle manufaturers' practice of "BNG" (Bold New Graphics!) when they don't have anything new to announce for the new year, I think this will just be more of the usual: Finger wagging, stern looks, and molo does 6 months community service.

In my opinion it seems really wrong to allow all involved to keep their balls. Effin' ridiculous. This is the worse allegations leveled at public officials in my recent memory. A child predator is pretty much the worse thing I can think of.

Truth. Bad enough to do this with one willing 16 year old. Much worse when it may have been something he did with several other pages in the past.

"Willing" doesn't mean much when you're an ambitious kid whose future political career is at stake. No kid should have sexually coercion from their boss, no matter what the sexuality or intent of the kid.

There will be some who will say "you don't understand the pressure of being a gay conservative Republican." No, and I don't care, either. Molo is molo and is never acceptable.

I feel this way, but do not have high hopes.

OK, the guy resigned and is in rehab, and Hastert has called for an investigation. That is what passes for "swift action" in this case.

Of course, if I were the DCCC I would start running "Who would you rather have, this grandmother (Nancy Pelosi) or These Molo Sympathizers (Hastert et al) in control." But, since I am not, somehow this will all get twisted into the fact that Democrats knew about it TOO, and did nothing, because they love terrorists, mongers and PooPooDingDong.

And now White House spokesman Tony Snow is on record as saying this about the whole sordid affair :

"It's not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill. And there have been other scandals, as you know, that have been more than simply naughty e-mails."

See? Nothing to worry about. They were just naughty e-mails.

Good fucking Gawd...

It's responsible for calling ex-girlfriends at 4:00 in the morning but making you want to touch little boys where they go pee pee is a stretch to say the least.

The butt-covering is in earnest now. Boner is turning on Asshurt. He says Asshurt told him the emails were "all taken care of." Implying that Asshurt covered up the whole deal without Boner's knowledge.

The funny part is that if he had just broken one off in the kid's shit ditch, he'd be in the clear, because age of consent in DC is 16. But because he tried some "and then they were one" shit over the email and IM, he broke the internet child protection bill that he sponsored.

What does that have to do with the price of Astroglide at the Dupont Circle CVS?

This press conference with dude's lawyer is pretty enertaining.

I also heard some audio today from a couple years ago of Foley with my old buddy John Walsh on Americas Most Wanted. Ironically hilarious.

I dont think this guy wants this job, he just happened to be the guys friend and a lawyer.

Sorta like how Uncle Brian will eventually be ashamed to defend one of us for some extraordinarily heinous crime yet will do it just the same.
