I see the Fall reference....
The music reminds me a bit of Springsteen/Replacements - it's a hooky mid-to-late 80's ROCK record, but in a good way...
The best way to explain the vocals is that one older, really drunk guy at the party who keeps telling everyone stories about the old days...

It's pretty darn awesome, if you ask me...
