Why aren't you on satellite radio yet, B?

I am still trying to figure out how to get my ipod to play in my car. My stereo says it is "XM ready" though. What do I need?

Screw XM - get yourself an adapter for your car stereo and plug your Ipod directly in! Find what works with your car's stereo here and you're on your way. Just a bit of digging around and dash-dismantling (generally not all that bad - I did it to both of our cars) and you're on your way in about an hour.

agreed. NPR is the best station on the dial.

I haven't listened to radio since I moved back here some 5 years ago. Isn't 94.9 at least better than 91X? Cause 91X fuckin sucks.

If Social D got played on the radio down here, I would crap myself with excitement. There are times I REALLY don't understand the people on this board, and this is definitely one of them. Awesome band, and I even like the Mike NEss solo rekkids.

I was honestly really excited when I first moved out to CA. I was like "Shit! They're playing [Fugazi, Built to Spill; Ben Harper, etc.] on the RADIO!" Coming from Athens it was either the college station which got off on mostly playing unlistenable shit-core, or the commercial booty stations.

But they found a way to fuck it up. Ownership of at least one of the indpt. radio stations changed hands. Gone are the Fugazi and B2S songs, for the most part. In comes the replaying of the same few Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam songs ad nauseaum. How alternative! I love the 91X tag line before they play one of these DECADE OLD songs -- "Rock: Cutting Edge: Rock."

A local rag recently ran a story on the "independent" San Diego radio stations (2 still claim this status, which is BS). They described it as hanging out with your buddy who has a 500-song mp3 player on a shuffle loop.

Sounds about right. Stay here long enough and you get to know those 500 songs extremely well. Better than your shitty 500-song radio station, you say? Well, maybe not. It breeds hatred of artists who are prob not so deserving of it. This thread is good evidence of that. All signs would seem to indicate that I would love Ness and Social D. But SD radio has beat it out of me. And I swear, if I hear that Nirvana cover of that "4th of July" song one more fucking time I will burn In Utero.

So that is why I say Fuck Social D. Fuck Mike Ness and his fucking Dylan cover. Fuck singing through your nose.

But the radio made me do it.

Dude, I've got the S/T and ...Heaven and Hell on the wood. Both are highly recommended by the self. Suggestions: play all the songs you don't recognize by name or intro first.

That happened to me, verbatim, here with 105.5. It's got a very undergroundish tilt to it, without being unaproachable. The first time I heard Wilco, I almost swerved off the road.

But they mix it with the same 25 Bonnie Raitt, John Prine, Matchgar 20 ("OwElseFoGeddabowdit"), and John Fogerty songs, on into the horizon. You can only take about a year.

They're still playing Santana - "Smooth" in Madison?

Crazy!

As it goes, if in Madison, I listen to 94.1, if I listen to radio at all.

What kills it for me is that flat monotone singing voice...every time. You could do a lot worse that Social Distortion on the radio but I'm not running out anytime soon to buy any of their albums.

Who listens to FM radio anways except for retarded people?

It's true, y'know.

Plus, is, in fact, good song. Can't speak to the rest of the album, but I know people who swear by it (& all things Gwen).

My first mosh pit experience was at a Social D show. I was kicked in the face.

I like them just fine.

The main reason I don't like them is because their whole image seems like an act.
