as for all the money talk, it's clearly a move that proves the red sox want to win. i read an interesting article where baseball economists said there is no way the red sox make that money back, win or no win,, especially since all merchandising revenue is shared by all 30 teams. as a fan who has been paying the higest average ticket prices forever, i am thrilled to see them put winning ahead of profit.
