sorry todd...I only just received my letter confirming that my poem has been selected for publication in "Immortal Verses." Apparently, they required a month to "carefully read and discuss" my poem before recognizing its "poetic artistry"

Even though I'm not a "real" person, I'm really sick of being the butt of every joke.
Would you kindly back the fuck off?

I apologize in advance for dredging this thread up Todd but I just received this email from Poetry.com:

Quote:
Dear Billy,

If you're like most poets, you probably feel your poetic artistry is often over-looked and under-appreciated in today's society. While popular athletes, musicians and movie stars all earn millions of dollars, virtually no money is made available for today's poets.

pleaseFUND.com is working hard to change all that. We're helping poets and other creative individuals raise money to deal with life's unexpected crises, expenses and opportunities.

Billy, we invite you to be one of the next poets we assist.

Click Here To Raise Money Now!

Decide how much money you need and how it will be spent.

This year we'll help you and thousands of other people raise money for medical emergencies, families in crisis, business ideas, funerals and memorials, creative endeavors, religious missions and projects, pet surgeries, schools and tuition, weddings and celebrations and many other worthy causes.

All this money is being raised through the miracle of online fundraising and the popular free website, pleaseFUND.com. You may have seen recent stories on CNN, Time Magazine, and The New York Times explaining how simple and easy it is to start raising money this way.

The reason pleaseFUND.com is exploding in popularity is because it really, truly works. And the best part of all? --- getting started on pleaseFUND.com is totally FREE!!

pleaseFUND.com will help you launch an online fundraising campaign without you having to pay even a single dime out of your own pocket.

There are absolutely no application fees, startup costs, memberships, or hidden expenses of any kind to get started.

The money you raise is yours to keep! No repayment is ever required!

Start Raising Money in the Next 15 Minutes!

Today, all of us live in tough economic times.

Billy, I'm sure that you...or someone very close to you...a family member, relative or friend could use some extra money right now. pleaseFUND.com can help you raise the money you need for the people and causes that matter to you most.

You can begin receiving donations for your fundraising project in the next 15 minutes.
Just tell your story on pleaseFUND.com in the most passionate and emotional way possible so people can clearly understand why it's important to support your cause.

Billy, as a poet, you'll find this easy to do. Surprisingly easy.

Why? Because you've already demonstrated the courage to share your innermost thoughts and feelings. You already know how to inspire others. This rare ability to communicate messages from your heart is the secret to raising money fast on pleaseFUND.com!

Your Money Is Deposited Into Your Account

Once your project is launched, you'll begin receiving money and donations that will be deposited into your account. You'll also receive a report of exactly where all this money is coming from.

As your donations flow in, pleaseFUND.com deducts 5% to cover their costs of managing your campaign and Paypal charges approximately 3% to process the donations.

This means that for every $100 you raise, $92.00 will be deposited into your account. Money that's available for what matters to you most!

Just Sit Back and Watch Your Donations Roll In!!

Once your fundraising project is launched, you can sit back and watch your donations roll in. You'll discover that everyone wants to help...including your friends and family!

You'll also get international exposure and promotion for your project through online advertising and from visitors that come from all over the world to pleaseFUND.com. In short, we'll do everything possible to help make your fundraising project a success.

So how much should I try to raise to support my poetry career? I haven't written any poems since this last one so obviously the burden of a full time non-poetry career has been holding back my artistry.

i feel like i read an article about this place and how they scam people and how the people don't care even a little bit because they get to have an awesome weekend with other poets hanging out at a hotel and a fancy dinner.

i think its a really good poem, lots of great imagery

but you should never pay to have your poem included somewhere. I got that offer a few years ago, and i thought they chose a pretty shitty poem. So i kept submitting to more authentic journals and got two published last year and got $150 out of it. Its not easy, i got about 15 rejections and one acceptance, but that acceptance made me real proud. Id try that route, your poem is good enough i think, and i dont know what else youve got.

Really??

In those days, we still had OPA! stirring shit, Charli's hysterics, the Elvis Fu/Shiv/LooGAR mission to get Frostingspoon to kill himself or be put on a sex offender watch-list, my crusade against Hegel & Fickerson, & Darrin's screeds. We still have that last, though in smaller volume, & I still loath Hegel & abhor Ficky, but otherwise, everybody's married off &/or having kids. Today, then, & outside of Konstantin & Monty, Obner is all...

I'm saying Obner is gentler, now. You're all married, or at least coupled, & reproducing... You just have a more settled mien.

Oh, I missed the bolding. But, oh, I just get too much of the same vibe of Hegel & Fickerson that I got from my boys when I was in my early twenties. Just a sense of entitlement.

The Stairwell

"It smells like Boloney
shit itself in here."

"It smells like
grapefruit piss."

We were about
to move on
when that guy
who played "Doc"
in Back To The Future
walked by.

"Jesus, it smells
like antifreeze sucked
sulpher's dick in here."
He said,
"What did you guys do?"

"It's like being
locked in a tent
with menstruation."

We shared a good laugh.

We asked him why
he was still dressed
like in the movie,
with the lab coat
and crazy hair.

"movie?"
He asked.

Imagine
if Batman
not only never met the Joker,
but didn't even know he existed.
If the Joker was
just some dirty-haired,
lipstick-smeared loser who
stocked shelves at Target
and otherwise only aired his
grudges
against his perceived nemesis
on the internet
from the confines of his mother's
basement.
And the grudges
weren't even grudges,
more like
"I dunno, I just get a weird vibe of entitlement off that Batman guy.
I loathe him."
In the act three climax
Bruce Wayne
sits in a bistro reading
the business section
and orders
a second biscotti.

Stealing Hibernation

oh, that dainty juice box
between your legs
I've heard all the stories
and stepped on many of
the discarded straws
but what's it all about, really?
Is it about running under
the radar at recess?
Or fooling yourself and society
into a place of vitamin proficiency?

Naw, I don't think so.
It's about bringing the bears
from the woods
and snapping popped collars
around their cuddly necks
giving them a sneak preview
and a scent of what comes next
they learn to walk on all fours
they learn to live behind doors;
nap underneath the
lemonade stand, man.

take everything you can,
while you wait for that
something to happen.

Radcliffe, you are a prince. Truly, the above is the first post from you about which I have guffawed.

'Cause it's true, yes. But also, it's true.

Oh, but update your files: I havn't done third shift stocking since before W. Bush was President.

Monty's notes are right for a change. The closest we get to meanness these days is Monty pointing out a potential cause for an attack and predicting an attack that never comes.

I just got another email from Poetry.com reminding me to put my virtual tin cup out for collections. Pretty aggressive group.

I don't remember this, but Rog and BG HAD to have cooked up that one-two punch in Chaggy one day.

Both posts as topical now as they were then.
