of montreal -- he has a new album coming out, no?
menomena - yay

Although the fiery furnaces are sure to come out with something next year, I'm growing less excited about new releases from them.

Hey Jonathan what do you know about this Ma Fleur album the Cinematic Orchestra are supposed to release next year? Is a release date set? US tour? Any inside word on what it sounds like?

"Ma Fleur" is set for release in early April. I gave it a couple listens last week and really liked it. It's more "Every Day" than "Motion", slightly more songful, yet still familiarly melancholic. Patrick Watson adds very sweet vocals to some tracks, and Fontella Bass makes a gorgeous reappearance. First download single will be available 2/20, I believe. I would expect dates toward early summer. I'm looking forward to this one, definitely.

I acquired the advance. Think I still have it. Let me know if you need.

Thanks, but I'll wait for the street date. Have you listened to it?

I've heard it. There are some really strong songs, but definitely not as consistent as Runners Four. It's also 10 songs clocking in at about 30 minutes.

Looking forward to:
Deerhoof
Of Montreal
Radiohead (fingers crossed)
Arcade Fire

I'm also still clinging to the hope that one day Racebannon will put out another album. I think they've got one finished, but I don't understand why they'd have such a hard time getting it out.

From their myspace: "They will be co-producing the record with producer/engineer - John Goodmanson. Although the record will be finished by the end of September, the record won't be released until Jan./Feb of 2007.

Autolux will not be playing shows any time soon."

Yay on the Jan/Feb release date.
Boo on the no shows any time soon (unless that actually means Jan/Feb shows).

For a local band, they really need to play LA more...or maybe I'm just not paying attention.

wow, can't believe I forgot to say spoon...

I wonder (besides the apostle of hustle record) what the Broken Social Scene people will end up releasing...I've heard everything from

"there's another record already in the can with different s/t sessions"

to

"solo albums"

to

"an ep or 2"

Yeah, I'm def. looking forward to the new Shellac. Curious about, but don't have high hopes for Roxy Music, Stooges, and GoF. Didn't know Cornelius & LSF had new stuff in the works, but I'm excited about that. Hopefully Doom/Ghostface and Edan will be good, too.

The Cornelius stuff is pretty good, assuming we're referring to Sensuous. I can't see him topping Fantasma pretty much ever, but there are some really neat tracks on the new one.

My god we are good at this music stuff!

I´m sorry for being so modest but damn, this new song we are recording at the moment will turn out sooo great.
We´re kind of half way through the recording process but already we can smell success.
Stay tuned for more news as soon as we´ve got any to share with you people.

/ Chris Dangerous.

No new Autolux until summer. Since I didn't go to their NYE show, they'd better play LA again soon! I'm almost considering driving up to SF to see them at Noise Pop if I can find somewhere to crash.

Well I'm excited for the new Clockcleaner album, sometime this year. It's going to be recorded by Bob Weston [Shellac bassist, Mission of Burma tape-op].

Then I'm hoping that Wooden Shjips and Pink Reason will release debut albums this year.

Looking forward to hearing the hundreds of albums that Boris come out with.

Interested in hearing the new Aqueduct record.

Listening to the new Woods record right now which is great. Comes out on the 22nd January.

Others...

Maher Shalal Hash Baz
Pink Mountaintops 7"
Big Business
Stooges
Shellac
Grinderman
Willy Mason (maybe)
Erik Enocksson
Terry Riley re-issue
Various Artists - Urban Africa Club
When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth
Corsican Paintbrush

Somebody told that Sebadoh are recording a new one. If that true then I'm up for that.
