I think the thing that hung up people last year was the idea to listen to an album in the top 20 that you hadn't heard before. I had to listen to Bloc Party and I wanted to listen to it a bunch before I wrote the blurb.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that gimmick. It was a cool idea though. But it does take more time. Not only for the write-up, but also to find a person to write it up.

It worked some of the time and was fun.

As a music fan I would rather read the passion for the music.

I'd write a blurb. Seems too bad not to have blurbs, either crackist "oh you don't know this, good, write about it..", or advocates. Otherwise it's just a list... 1. TV on the Radio 2. M. Ward.... yawn.

Yes, yes, many people said they'd write. I'm looking for someone to organize those people.

Perhaps you should describe exactly what's entailed in "organize?"

Choose and assign?
Pester to get them in?
Get text to you?

What else?

I will send an alphabetized list of the top 20. The person's job will be to send me text, ASAP, formatted and ready for posting on obner (i.e., with img tags and so on) in alphabetical order by album, which I will then sort by ranking and post. How the organizer acquires the text is up to them.

sorry it took so long last year. We were trying something new, and I'm not sure that it worked. but it was interesting, if tardy.

I thought crack's idea was great last year.

If this year it's about hate, I really, really hate the rabbit fur coat crap, and the unlistenable Y. Really, really hate.

I thought the idea was great too. Hearing people gush over how much they love an album is almost as boring as just listing them straight up. Go for the hate!

well last year it wasn't Hate so much as unfamiliarity, although i admit that i did make some assignments with conflict in mind. all the ideas that i've had for this year require too much work.

Right, I know. The unfamiliarity was a good idea for last year, but I was voting for the hate idea this year. The comedy should be worth it.

Although finding people who are willing to write blurbs and also hate one of the top 20 albums might be difficult.

Yeah, I don't think I can afford to rent a bulldozer for a shiv-style picture review of the hated album anyway.
