They had their dance punk phase.

Prolly better than Juicebooxxx (jokey, backpacker hip-hop for whitey (though backpacker usually is white-people friendly hip-hop)) but that doesn't say much.

I do think there's hope, though. Surgeons in Heat were decent when I caught them at Mad Planet, & the Etiquette getting back together is great. (Unfortunately, even for that, some track-suited Lady Sov type whitey-friendly hip-hopper named Melissa Czarnik is the big deal, right now. Fuck me in the ear.)

They sold a whopping 5,000 copies of "Soft Skeletons," had to fight Frenchkiss to get hold of this record and don't appear to have management or anyone handling their booking.

If they're "kinda getting paid" I'd be shocked.

This is a really good, creative, rewarding album. That's enough for me.

Neither are all that creative,
but at least Soft Skeletons is listenable.

i don't know why Jerkass would call this garage rock.
it doesn't have like a single element of garage rock in it.
either way i'd agree that it's unlistenable crap.
and it totally reminds me of the last couple against me! records.

After all the talk here, I was still surprised at how Who-sounding this thing is.

the music was ok but the lead vocals dragged everything down with them and made it all sound just average. lyrics are bad too.
