I got 12 Memories from Yourmusic.com but haven't gotten around to listening to it yet. I don't think I was that into it though because I downloaded it when it first came out and I don't remember anything from it. I probably wouldn't be interested in the new one because I don't remember The Invisible Band being all that good either.

I saw an ad for this and was a little confused myself. Absolutely no publication on the album.

I snagged The Man Who yesterday on the basis of this thread. I'm listening for the first time and really enjoying it.

The lyrics for As You Are and Driftwood are hitting home.

Sweet cover though.

I stand by 4-5 songs on Invisible Band, but I guess I could say the same thing about the much lauded Man Who as well. I should've known what direction they were angling to end up in when they hopped on a Dido tour as the main support act back in 01.

After a very disappointing last album, Travis has partially redeemed themselves with their latest release due out November 4th , "Ode To J. Smith"

this track in particular I think is pretty good

I don't think the band ever fully recovered from the drummer breaking his neck in a swimming pool in France.

And The Man Who is solid, but i reach for Good Feeling more often. It's pretty fucking good.

I thought the last record had a few OK songs...it was certainly better than 12 Memories.

Dalen, this is a new CDS just released in the U.K., the whole album should be out shortly.

I didn't even listen to the last album...after the man who came out I couldn't understand why they weren't huge over here.

Commercially, I think Coldplay pretty much swiped up any momentum that Travis was building with The Man Who. Parachutes and The Man Who both came out in the wake of nu-metal dominance. Coldplay lucked out with a fluke hit in "Yellow" during that era, but people stopped caring about Travis long before nu-metal died. In my opinion, Invisible Band was their make or break record in the states, but most fans seemed pretty disappointed with it. "Sing" was really the only song that was close to being a hit in the states, from what I remember.

I thought 12 Memories was decent. It had three really good Travis tracks (quicksand, re-offender and Happy to hang around) that compare favorably to their other well liked singles. The rest is solid enough. i don't see a huge artisitc leap between any of their albums. They all have 3-4 good songs and a bunch of solid filler. Decent background music. Their last album was more of the same. They're pretty consistent in my book.

I agree. I love those 3 songs off of 12 Memories.
