I installed a cd player in my old civic myself once. I got done, put the key in, and powered it up. No sound. Nada. Not for the radio, cd, nothing, then I opened and shut the door, and it worked.

I had to repeat these steps everytime I got in. Turn car & stereo on, open door, shut, and then it worked.

this is actually pretty amazing that it worked every time.

right now i'm having some trouble with my climate controls lighting up in my car. i haven't yet found a sweet spot. it either takes a smack or just turning one of the knobs all the way.

I finally figured it was a ground issue, where me breaking contact @ the door and then re-making it did something. But it wasn't like a 90% deal, or 99%... every. single. time. Finally I yanked out the unit and re-did every connection, and it went away.
