I know those are the thinking man's Mel Gibson movies, but seriously the kills per minute alone of those movies justifies their presence here.

so what was the choice? (i would've voted goonies, or die hard 2 if it made the list.)

Apparently it's Roadhouse in a landslide, even though it wasn't a choice.

yeah, but isn't that why you watch football or golf or whatever? Trust me, there's very little thought involved in any of those movies listed, from the skateboard flick to the horror movie comp. I just can't put myself waiting through that dungheap just to hear "I used to fuck guys like you in prison".

nobody even mentioned dodgeball. i would have gone with goonies but i've watched it like twice in the last week. dodgeball is one of those ones that comes on cable all the time and i never really mind watching it. the jason bateman appearances don't hurt either.

Those are acceptable substitutes, but there's something about settling in to watch every last second of a Patrick Swayze flick that says "I have given up." You don't get that satisfying moral "clunk" by watching a film with any redeeming qualities.

It's like taking medicine. If it tastes ok, ... wtf?
