FT is just a bit bitter right now. C'mon, he didn't even like Spoon's new album and he's a HUGE fan!!

I still love ya, Bob.

I am loving this "Calm Down Dearest" song by Jamie T. The first 30 seconds is sort of sassy singing like drunken shirley temple; the rest being amazingly fine. I heard a couple others by him, and did not like them much. This became an instant favorite?!

np: The Young Knives - Weekends & Bleak Days (Hot Summer)

sounds like 1979-1981 jagged guitar edgy ernestness. Is that what critics call "post-punk" I don't know? It's not my thing, but I bet they have some good songs, or will have some in the future.

Wow, is that ever an enormous pile of shit (Arctic Monkeys excluded)!

bitter old man.

Of course, in this instance, "enormous pile of shit" means "stuff I've never heard, so I automatically assume it sucks." I'm more like Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer: "Your unknown indie rock bands confuse and frighten me!"

1. I am a sweet old man,.
2. I've heard a lot of this list.
3. I think a lot of it is quite correctly categorized as a pile of shit.
4. I think that because I love music, not because I hate it.

As usual, most of you are full of shit.

Quote:
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black (Island)
Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare (Domino)
Basquiat Strings - Basquiat Strings with Seb Rochford (F-IRE)
Bat for Lashes - Fur and Gold (Echo)
Dizzee Rascal - Maths and English (XL)
Fionn Regan - The End of History (Bella Union)
Jamie T - Panic Prevention (Virgin)
Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future (Polydor)
Maps - We Can Create (Mute)
New Young Pony Club - Fantastic Playroom (Universal)
The View - Hats Off to the Buskers (1965)
The Young Knives - Voices of Animals and Men (Wea)

All things considered, this is a pretty progressive list of new artists that have artistic merit. For those that disagree let's see if you have some balls and can give me a list of ten better emerging UK artists.

In any case, it sure beats the shit out of the pap that gets nominated for our Grammys every year.

Well, that's the point, isn't it? One expects so much more from the Mercury Prize.
