p.s. so anyway, a friend of mine in college (jeff the chaucer) and i were sitting in the campus bar, telling the stupidest, most offensive racial/sexist jokes we could thing of. (he's black, and i'm a dumb brownde.) so we're going back and forth, getting sloshed along the way. i'm sure you can imagine the quality of the humor. (whaddya get when ya mix a mexican with an octopus? i dunno, but it sure can pick tomatoes.)

up walks a guy we had met the week before, a nice guy from belgium named dennis. he sits down with his beer, catching us in the middle of our movement to bad jewish jokes.

suddenly, he says, looking stricken, "i would prefer it if you would not tell any jewish jokes. they are too much. you see, my grandfather died in a concentration camp."

jeff and i, shocked into momentary sobriety, started trying to apologize the best we could.

then dennis added, "yeah, he fell off a watch tower."
