Exactly. Even if this was half decent, who the fuck has time to go around listening to half-decent music. I don't have time to listen to anything that I don't thoroughly enjoy.

Somewhere along the way some idiot has invented and perpetuated the myth that all music is in fact awesome, just some people are too cool to realize. Wrong.

You sound like such a putz right now. "Even if" it was half decent? Haha. You haven't even heard it! Oh, I'm sorry... but it just couldn't be great because you're already above it! Yup. Very typical of this board indeed.

i've heard the single, if that's the best they could pick out to represent their new album i don't need to hear any more.

Seriously, what sort of person with at least one hundred post on this board would believe this is a good album to discuss on here.

I am inundated with the acoustic blips of their current hit song while brother watches reality shows on MTV, and from hearing their previous work on commercial radio while at work I cringe when I here their name mentioned.

By the way, when did they go from dressing like a bunch of goth and emo kids to trying to look like a prototypical indie band.

Disclaimer: I like singles from bands such as the Killers, Slipknot, and Disturbed. Sunny Day Real Estate and Jimmy Eat World have made some of my favorite records. I played Amerie's "1 Thing" at least three times yesterday because I'm finally grasping how awesome it is (of course, hoodinternet.com's mash-up with Dismemberment Plan helped a bit).

I ignored Panic because I lumped them with the likes of My Chemical Romance, for whom I don't really care. Clips of the new album show different ambitions, but it's not enough to capture my long-term interest. RIYL: later Idlewild, early Vines.

I'm not too cool to admit it. I just haven't heard it either.

I'm willing to harbor the notion it's okay. I mean, I was the one saying the Blue October album is much better than people think. But I don't see any reason to listen. There's thousands of albums every year and only so much patience and give to give.

And again I doubt his voice has improved much.

... On the real, though -- I saw that Panic! @ the Disco played "I write tragedies..." as their second act on SNL last week. Isn't it from the previous album, though?

Consequently, I have to wonder if we're entering a "Universal Beasties" phase for all SNL playing acts; one new song, then the one hit. "U.B." since the Beastie Boys always play "Sabotage" whenever they do SNL, no matter what year it is.
