yeah, the gf and i are 3 episodes from the finale now. we've blasted through this thing a just a few days.

what i'm most interested in is alan ball's take on the books. i know they aren't sticking to the books 100% (obviously since lafayette is still alive and they're focusing on the tara character a lot, whereas in the books she had a minimal role).

without spoiling too much, i'm interested to see how the dallas story is going to pan out, maryann and daphne (i think there's more to her than just being the new waitress at merlotte's).

Yeah, I'm very interested in Maryann. I haven't read the books, and don't have any desire to, so I'll just let it flesh out normally...

We just watched the first 2 episodes last night via netflix, and we're on the fence about continuing. It wasn't great tv, but it wasn't awful either. The accents suck, but then there is the nudity, so ...

Cap'n, the first 2 eps of the 1st season didn't sell me either. It's 100% worth watching.

Next disc comes in tommorrow. We'll stick with it, based on the board's good advice. (and the tiggies)

Yeah it's unadulterated garbage but it's a lot of fun to watch. Especially the clidfhangers. And boobs.

Is it just me or did not a whole heck of a lot happen this week? Kind of expect more.

I think we're about 12 episodes in now, still in the first season anyway. We're still not smitten with it, but it's just on the right side of the line to keep them in the netflix que. Also, tiggies.

I mean, define "happen" in this context. Did a lot of weird vampire shit happen or deaths, etc? No but I thought it set up a lot of what's to come.

Yeah it's escapist entertainmnet but Alan Ball, like with Six Feet Under, knows how to write some slow burn TV and is great at character development.

I did think the whole flashback of Eric being made by Godric was a bit hokey but was a necessary explanation.

Overall, it presented a lot of questions that I expect will be answered.

Also, Jason got a hand job.

No shit! I was cringing, but all the while wondering about the time line. I grasped that Eric was a viking and Godric a Native American, but couldn't place the time period as I couldn't remember how old Eric said he was.

Also, Maryann is a wicked bitch. Still enthralled by her. Also Daphne and Sam, still suspicious of that as well.

I think Eric mentioned once that godrick was twice as old as he was, putting Eric around a thousand years old?

Not much dialogue going on about this show here. Is it a guilty pleasure? A symptom of "meh, I watch it because nothing else is on" or just not remembering to post about it?

I was glad to learn more about Maryann's creepiness.

It's got it's hooks in me.

Edit - Also, that whole 2 hour Sunday block on HBO is working for me right now.

For some reason I can't seem to remember to watch Entourage.

Hung is OK, except the chick who is the 'pimp' smells up the whole 2 hour block.

Also, the Church in the Now or whatever pastor's wife - talk about NEEDING it.

I keep waiting on this chick to have some gonzo sex scene where she just goes nuts. They keep teasing it. Bring the heat already....
