I realize this, but usually articles like this are set in bumfuck alabama or tittysore wyoming. It's nice to see other industrialized nation's cesspools getting some press.

Not sure I'd go that far. I'd say having the 3rd largest country (population-wise) and a free press ensures these stories of simple folk and plain idiots get more coverage here and have a larger chance of happening due to the size of the population.
