I'd hardly call it personally painful.

I would call it shitty.

Well, don't blame Nirvana for your shitty life.

I don't blame them for my shitty life, I blame them for making shitty music that blindsided idiots that don't know any better.

They still good. However, In Utero now stands head and shoulders above the rest.

So, when does the death-clock start for Frances Bean?

... & I bet you thought I would say, "When's Frances going to be legal?"

But I would never. It would be like fucking her dad. (Same face, though hers is whiskered.)

i hear you, man. i was just thinking the other day about how ancient 60s bands seemed to me when i was getting into music.

on the subject of nirvana, obviously nothing in human history has been worthy of the amount of attention and praise that band has received, so i can see how someone might call them shitty relative to that. however, to my ears they sound as good as they did before the hype.

I would be very intrigued by a 14 or 15 year old's reaction to Nirv now, especially In Utero or Unplugged. I wasn't a huge Nirvana fan or "grunge" fan, but FUCK those albums till slay me, as did "In Bloom" back in the day.

So just to be clear. The Moody Blues = yay and Nirvana = nay?

in some of the final interviews, he seems really disenfranchised with the business. i've always guessed he'd rebel against it and make extremely abrasive music just to try to slink away from record labels trying to push his music on the masses.

one of my coworkers mentioned this today and i was like, "i remember being in the halls between classes and someone told me they'd heard it on the radio." she was not amused. (i'm the youngest person in my department by 20 years. they hate when i mention how young i am.)

The only thing I really remember about it was the Channel 1 coverage, which was utterly ridiculous. I wonder what all those girls dressed in black crying that they were going to kill themselves too are up to these days.

I really don't care for Nirvana but not to the extent of Dave's hatred. There's just nothing in their music that speaks to me, despite how many bands Kurt loved that I love and us sharing a birthday.

Konstantiranks speak!

(1989) Bleach - 6.84
(1991) Nevermind - 7.58
(1993) In Uetro - 7.75

Nice little trajectory they had going there, obviously we were denied a oh-so-rare 8.00+ album by the barrel of that shotgun.

I do enjoy the Albini version of In Utero over the other.
