Because of the Times is one of the best Reg Rock albums of this decade. It's unbelievably good.

I DO think its funny that Sex on Fire is what "broke" the, but this is a really good band that has a long future.

No way dude. They're only gonna get worse from here on in. Though those first two records are two of my favourites of the decade. The problem is, the singer is really really dumb. Like, really dumb.

And they've been the biggest band in the world for like two years now. Where have you guys all been?

Same old story. Up and coming band with tight punchy songs starts slowly supporting huge acts and opening for them in arenas. They keep getting blown away by the headliner, because the headliner plays some form of shitty, soaring arena rock that's really suited to those sorts of venues. Up and coming band starts writing soaring arena songs that can sail all the way to the back row of the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Knocked Up was a summer sountrack of sorts for me two years ago

Lykke Li does an incredible cover of this song. I caught an appearance of it on Carson Daly's late night show. Musically her band turned it into a Joy Division-esque dirge.

i have almost no idea who or what you guys are talking about but I think that they were just on the TV in the kitchen singing what sounded like a Foo Fighters song.

I think they've been doing it from the beginning. Pitchfork has truly hated these guys from the get-go.

Fair enough shiv but they also trashed all their albums after that first EP which, by my count, kind of follows the cliche indie playbook of "I liked their first EP better".

I had no idea they were playing Philips here. That's insane. I guess what every indie rag said about their last album was true. Glossy, pop rock songs aimed to make them stars.

Mission accomplished. Good on 'em. I thought the newest album had some good songs on it and I disagree about them live. I saw 'em once at the Tabernacle here and thought they smoked.

I wouldn't pay arena prices to see 'em but I don't hold their success against them.

Man, you guys are REALLY missing the boat on Because of the Times.

The three song run of "True Love Way", "Ragoo", and "Fans" is just too fucking good.

First two albums are ok with a handful of good tracks on each. Bott is a beast...posturing and cliched in places, sure, but a fun album and easily their best. This new one has a couple moments but us generally a turd.

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago when they were playing an arena show and my friends were complaining about all the dbags in the crowd because of how big they are now.

They still have some great songs and the show was good though. The lead singer did say at the end of the show "bring your friends next time" since it wasn't sold out, which kind of rubbed people the wrong way.

The RAC remix of "Use Somebody" is pretty awesome though: http://rcrdlbl.com/artists/Kings_of_Leo ... _RAC_Remix

I think I heard my first kings of leon song about 4 months ago after being asked once again by a woman friend if I was into them so I finally looked them up on hype this....

All I know is that "sex on fire" and "use somebody" are pretty damn good songs.

tell me the best songs and I'll track them down. I avoided this band because I thought it was southern cock rock appealing to the masses. maybe still is, just saying that the ladies seem to like this band and that reason goes a long way to explaining how they have exploded.

Don't do that. Just blog or google the following albums, in this order:

A-ha Shake Heartbreak
Because of the Times
Youth and Young Manhood

Doing a greatest hits thing for this band at this point would be an injustice.
