I don't know, I still give my old favorites a spin a couple times a year. I guess the ones I never really give pause anymore are stuff like BloodSugarSexMagik and Ill Communication.

Maybe there's a Doors album in there, but I felt like outgrew that stuff in 8th grade or so.

It's only in tragic middle age that I've been bored enough to make lists and when I was 19 or so I probably only had about 25 albums anyway.

Back in the CMJ days I voted 'White Light/White Heat' as my number one but it wouldn't be now. It would still be up there, Top Twenty say, certainly Top Fifty but not number one.

Operation:Mindcrime has been either #1 or #1a (with OK Computer holding the #1b spot) since 1987. Since that time, OKC has slipped to the Top 5, while OMC solely holds the #1 spot for 22 years running....

i loved Slippery When Wet when i was in elementary school. i busted out the cassette a year or two ago and really enjoyed it still. not really a fan of the "style" (arena rock) but i think that album is one of the best of it's kind. or maybe i just liked it in an ironic way or something.

I used to love that one, too. Not an all-time favorite, but I liked it a lot. And you are right, it doesn't really hold up so well.

Bummer.

While on vacation a family friend had this on 8-track. I think i damn near wore it out in a week. Sounds like Silver Lake in Wautoma Wisconsin to me. Age 10.

Then, approximately 7 years later, this came out. Working in a Shake Shop as a cook, driving home around midnight after closing with this blaring. Blew out my parents stereo in an old Pontiac Bonneville.... Jensen speakers... ooooooow.... )

Dont care for the VH now, but the STYX has a certain mystique still.... i suck.

This was my favorite when I was 5 or 6 years old...

I'll second the Ill Communication one, along with some BloodSugarSexMagic action in Jr High...

I'm not 100% sure what my favorite album is/has been for the last 10 years or so...
