This record is very interesting, so far.

It has the combination of their synthy side and a really dirty live sound to go with it (packed with their trademark distorted drums). Each track is full of psychedelic textures with warm electronic tones.

13 songs into it and there isn't one radio friendly song in sight.

Wait, "Worm Mountain' is pretty god damn awesome.

wayne's nephews band. pretty damn good. obvious FL similarities, but a bit more on the Floyd-tip maybe.

I got this from Best Buy on Saturday for $8. Spent most of the weekend listening to it on both my home stereo and in my car on a trip to St. Louis.

So far, I like it more than The Soft Bulletin, but not as much as Yoshimi. It does have a very dark vibe to it. Love the synths, love the drums, love the vocals.

Likely an end of the year top 5.

I'm not crazy about it, unfortunately. I'm hoping it will grow on me, but repeat listens have revealed more flaws than any real melodies, grooves, or nice details.

I really had high hopes based on the few songs I heard, especially the opening track, "Convinced of the Hex", but so far the rest of it hasn't really measured up. To me, it sounds every bit the sequel to At War with the Mystics, but with a forced "psychedelic" bent. Like they used the "Pompeii" song from that as a jumping off point for making a whole double album.

I got this finally on Saturday. I tried Friday night at Borders, and got "Who are they? I doubt we carry them" response from the person helping me, so I left albumless. The record store I went to had the regular version, but was sold out of the SE, and the vinyl has apparently been pushed back. Seems like the constant lately with vinyl records of larger bands.

After 1.5 listens I really dig it. I like the sounds and the direction they took with it.

Holy shit. They would definitely carry it, it's on Warner Bros for crissakes. That person should be fired.

Yeah, I'm sure even the Borders that only stock a handful of new releases would still have this album.

My local store even carried Richard Hawley's newest and it's on Mute.

I think there are basically two kinds of Borders when it comes to carrying music. There are ones that actually have a reasonable selection and keep a back catalog of music in a decent sized CD section. Then there are the ones that only have a couple of racks of new releases and best sellers. I'm guessing Rabbit's was one of the latter, but even they probably had it.

Well, they did have it, they just never put it out. They also couldn't find it in the back. I also failed to mention that the same person that questioned the band, spelled the their name "f-l-a-m-m-i-n-g" the first time. Sorry, but if you work in a bookstore please learn to spell basic words.

Haha. No kidding. For some reason I'm constantly surprised at the stupidity of the average American.
