This general membership of this board has always been attracted to the "nice". Most members only became indie fans when indie became safe, subsequently they always tend to gravitate towards the toothless pop end of the spectrum (ref: Shins, Belle & Sebastian, Fleet Foxes, Wilco, etc). So, yeah, REM will beat the Stooges, Radiohead will beat the Clash, and on and on it shall go.

Most fun thing about this polling is to see how many ways you can find to say basically the same thing. Challenging I am sure but entertaining to me nonetheless.

Give me a fucking break. Is it really that much of a stretch to think Murmur would beat Funhouse?

On Obner? No, but it's still pretty lame.

Fun House has become my favorite album of all time, so yeah, this sucks for me.

But it was pretty obvious from the beginning how this poll would unfold.

Way to throw your lot in with the reg rockers, dude.

In which way, Fun House worship or being a general naysayer about the polls?

I mean, Fun House is a lot of things, but I wouldn't call it "reg rock".

And I don't mean to come off too negative about this whole thing. It's been fun, and I'm glad OPA decided to do it.

On any board. I'm not even arguing against Funhouse. I freaking love that record but I'm just not seeing why this is so outrageous.

I realize that what REM has become has colored their career for many but I still see Murmur as not only a very important album in the canon of rock music but maybe their best album. To me, it still sounds pretty timeless and completely out of place in their own catalog. Not to mention some great songs.

It's not like it's a landslide either. 60/40 is fairly close compared to some others. Obviously we're all going to throw our support to the one we vote for but to completey just freak out and say "I hate this board" is silly.

This isn't directed at you Drink, more to Captain Hyperbole up there.

This was a tough call for me as I really like both albums. I went with Murmur though because over time I just find myself reaching for it way more.

Personally, I'd be much more annoyed to see The Bends beat The Clash. And, I'm not a Radiohead basher, just that first Clash album is a fucking killer that I've played at least as much as any other album I own since I was a wee school boy. Way better than anything Rancid ever has released.

In other words, pantywaist, pedigreed, bookend, dweeb music.
I've always thought this board needed to get some teeth, but one would need teeth, strong enough to eat other teeth.

Ironically, I love the Fleet Foxes record for its sheer lack of teeth.
