I went OutKast just because I've never really been able to get into Drive By Truckers. When I hear people talk about them I always want to like thme but it always falls flat to me. But I do agree Stankonia is far from their best. I'd also take Aquemini over it and personally ATLiens is my favorite OutKast.

Still, I do like Stankonia and am a bit unsure what obviously better albums it beat to get here. I mean, it's certainly as good as most of what else made it through this shit so far.

Thanks to Gar and nobody for actually saying that this is not close to Outkast's best album.

I get that some people just don't like the Truckers but Stankonia is horribly overrated IMO and I'm a HUGE supporter of theirs. You can't grow up down here and not be (well, at least their early records when they were still regional).

I mean, can anyone here honestly say they like a song on there outside of "Ms. Jackson", "B.O.B.", "Gasoline Dreams", "So Fresh So Clean", or "I'll Call Before I Come"??

I mean, "Toilet Tisha"? Really?

I'm aware Stankonia is the third or even fourth best Outkast album and no, I probably don't like a song outside of those five, but I'd still take Stankonia over the DBT's, but that's just me.

I enjoy "We Luz Deez Hoes", "Red Velvet" and "Gangsta Sh't". I don't think thet're in the same league as BOB, So Fresh, etc but they're solid.

Of course i did. But without looking i'd only remember So Fresh, Ms. Jackson, and BOB. Doesn't mean they're bad songs. Hell i couldn't name 6 songs off of Southern, ATLiens, Aquemini without looking but i know there are quite a few songs on each that i really like.

Why do I doubt that there is truly THIS much love for Stankonia? Is this the only rap/hip-hop album that all of us WHIKE Guys with Guitar lovers have listened to in this decade (besides the obvious fans of the genre on the board)?

Personally, I don't think Decoration Day is that strong (it's why it's the only DBT record I don't own besides Gangsta Billy). There are a few good tunes for sure.

Yeah, Stankonia is the hip hop album of its era that white people listened to. I know people who have pretty much zero interest in hip hop who like the record. It was the big crossover smash and all that. So, just for how it really did break the group to a much bigger audience, I can understand why people would pick it out as the most important OutKast album, even if I think they have other better records.

Exactly. Of course they have better albums, but they were released in the '90s. Hence, they cannot be in this poll.

And plenty of white people like Jay-Z and Kanye, too. I don't think Outkast is any more of a token favorite than those.

While I think overall Dirty South is better, there are many days I would probably rate this higher overall than SRO, and it is definitely better than the last two albums.

Maybe it's an age thing. But, I know way more white people who listen to OutKast than Kanye or Jay Z...especially Jay Z.

And I don't mean it in a bad "they are a token" way. I think they spent a long time putting out solid music and deserved a bigger audience. Nothing wrong with more people hearing your music.

I haven't listened to it in probably 3 years. Maybe a fresh set of ears would help.

But then again you hate Blessing and a Curse and I love it.
