If every obner poster made a top 20 or top 50 list of their favorite albums of the decade, most of us would not put either of these albums in the top spot... and often not even the top-10. However, at the same time, you'd probably see both of these albums be the most represented albums on the lists... regardless of placement. They are both albums with a lot of critical and fan acclaim, appeal to the Obner constituency as a whole, and are still listened to and cited by a lot of people.

And so it goes...

I guess so, i mean we all get older, but theres something to be said for trying to name that which shall not be named. I always feel like to have the debate, you have to have a position, without that why even engage in the discussion.

Well what I was trying to say is.. for me it is futile to ask "which album was #1; #2 etc". Instead of simply something like "top albums of the decade". The discussion is there- but without trying to compare apples and oranges in certain cases.

Wilco. I've stated my love for them. I don't get all the hate, or the surprised amazement that this album could be a contender. People have already stopped gushing over Arcade Fire and this record. They put out another album that isn't stellar, and revisionist history will knock this down to a 2nd tier record.

Wilco but this is very close.

I'm sure this just proves to most of you how lame my taste in music is but these are actually my two favorite albums of the decade so the finals could not be more interesting to me.

i also dont think there is a more representative album of the decade than funeral, for what its worth...orchestral indie rock, multi-instrumentalists, hype-driven, pitchfork-created/pushed, how does this not define at least the second half of this decade

Good point, and they have at least one song that has a disco drum beat, which would account for the 2000 - 2006 rehashing of disco influenced post-punk that critics and indie kids creamed over.

I voted for Wilco, and I want Arcade Fire to win. I need to talk to someone.

A man named Tweedy over a man whom anyone would describe as "tweedy".

Toasted ravioli over Manhattan Clam Chowder.

Alcoholism over Texas oil money.

Life as an urchin over how one who is not, nor ever could be, an urchin imagines that life to be.

Voted Wilco but have no real problem with Funeral

YHF is just simply a better record. With better songs.
