Cool. Archive.org has stopped carrying downloadable Dead and Phish shows for the most part.

Really? I've downloaded a fair bit of Dead lately.

weird, every show I attempt its a no-downloader. I checked out that site you rec'd for Phish...first show I went to check out (Gorge 1997) wasn't available. I'll keep trying.

"Backwards Down the Number Line"
- Very upbeat beginning to the record. The prototypical Phish 3.0 song/sound. Vapid lyrics, though nothing so horrible as to grab the attention, fortunately just obscure enough to not have some literal attachment to Trey's drug problem or something. Crisp recording/production, clean vocals, nice layering, curtailed jamming.

ugh, right off the bat i can't help but picture trey's smug little smile as he sings "happy, happy..." blech. very poppy. the little jam at the end is actually decent. ok, now that they stopped singing, i kinda like this.

"Stealing Time From The Faulty Plan"
- And here are the overly direct lyrics. Already raising the question, within the song, when is the next time they're breaking up? Definitely nothing you haven't heard in the instrumental before. Sounds like Character Zero slightly slower. I guess this counts as Dark Trey.

this started off promising, but...did he just sing "i've got a Cliff Bar and [something] Green Tea"? i. just. can't. do. it. anymore. i'm guessing tom marshall has long since been involved with this band? this sucks, because the music is actually strong. lyrics? no.

"Joy"
- First time I've heard this song. And here are the awkward lyrics about beauty and happiness. Nice little thing on the acoustic guitar. A ballad with a bit of bombast. I prefer "Driver". This is schlock, and would've sounded better if Trey was singing with his high-voice, get me?

jesus christ. can't get to the skip button fast enough.

- Gordon song. The G is soft. Spiky funk song, like a cactus. The chorus may prove to be the best part of this album. Trey's wha sounds horrible. Solo is nice though, and Page's kind off-kilter keys are nice. Thank god for Mike Gordon and how weird he is.

nope.

- A medium sized cat that has a tawny yellow coat marked with black splotches, and ranges from S. Texas through S. America. It makes for a decent song.

ok, this might be the last one i can sit through...

i'd give that honor to story of the ghost probably.

this. there is absolutely no need for any phish album post-farmhouse. these last 3 are the same goddamn boring songs over and over and over again. i really don't see how there could be any argument at all that this is the best phish album.

there's no point to arguing what is the best phish album. they're all merely consequence. the lyrics are thoroughly horrible. but sonically/instrumentally this might be the focus they've been after for so long. who gives a fuck.

Ghost, Nectar, Rift and Lawn Boy are all excellent studio albums IMHO. Billy Breathe's, Hoist and Farmhouse would probably be in the next tier.

Of the post-Farmhouse records, Undermind is probably the best on the strength of "Connection", "Crowd Control" and "Two Versions of Me".

Haven't heard the new one yet but I am a fan of "Backwards Down The Number Line".

Where's "Time Turns Elastic" in these files?? Should be second to last track. Terrible song though.

I'd be interested in hearing the "Party Time" album that comes with the "Joy Box" expanded release.
