Now at 105,000 acres. This bitch ain't messin' around. And several people who did not heed the evacuation warnings are stuck in the center of the fire -- helicopters nor firefighters are able to reach them.

This is so sad to hear and see.

There is a fire season, to be sure.... and the primary safeguard to its devastation is not to build houses in areas where fires can destroy... on high hills, in dry forests. We live in the redwood forest, and the Santa Cruz county fire two weeks ago was close....

I've got family and friends in Sierra Madre and other San Gabriel foothill areas. The city itself is mostly safe... I remember the various riots with the city really burning up to be more frightening... I also remember the 1961 Bel Air fire when Mother Flame roared and burned 100s of homes... but that was unusual.

God gave Noah the rainbow sign
No more water but the fire next time
He had a home in that rock, well, don't you see?

You better get a home in that rock, don't you see?

yea, its always something stupid that starts these things anyways... a car catches fire and ignites the brushes... then copy cat idiots go and start their own... people not putting out their camp fire and the debris ignites

yeah, that's not how they always start.

I'm pretty sure we're smack dab in the middle of fire season. It's been really slow this year (good thing) but it's definitely fire season.

This morning's news -- 5% contained, expect to have full control of the fire by September 15th. September 15th?! That's two weeks away!

this Al Green show at the LA County Fair is going to be interesting what with people bursting spontaneously into flames.

I saw on the news this morning that there is so much smoke in Las Vegas from the Station Fire that they are advising people to stay inside. Apparently the smoke is affecting air quality as far away as Denver. Sorry estone.

Well, we got upgraded from a level two to a level three today at work (National Interagency Fire Center). Things might start picking up a bit after such a slow season.

i was coming in here to post something about this. there has been a big haze here for the past couple of days. it's supposed to get better today, but there have been some amazing colored sunsets, and the moon last night was a crazy shade of yellow because of all of this.

Smoke must not be heading south at all because we aren't getting any of it in San Diego. If this fire is a sign of things to come we're going to be fucked this year.
