Wow, Mickey's. Great little hole in the wall. Sorry to miss that... stumbling distance from my place there.

That little studio place a mile down the street further east, in the Shenk Atwood area?

You just show up late with sunglasses on, puke on something expensive, and pass out in a hot girl's lap.

That bar area is really small - although I'm sure you've played in more cramped quarters. The last time I was there and a performer was on, most of the space in the bar was taken up by unoccupied tables. Most people were in the disconnected back rooms full of vintage furniture chit-chatting and playing pool. Those people stayed there most of the time only coming out intermittently to feign interest in the performer while they waited for their drink at the bar and then scurried back to the social rooms. But that was five years ago...

There's a comfy little creek right next to the bar where you could sleep the night away.

Seriously? At the Times Cinema? I'm planning to go (solo). I think it starts at 11 PM.

I'll have to double-check the time, then. I am used to the Friday shows, increasingly rare as they are -- new ownership, & all -- being at midnite. (Meeting People Is Easy was the best presentation I saw there, back in May or June 2004. Long time ago.)

Oh, & pro-tip: I know how lame we are, & especially that area (Washington Heights), but Meritage & Cafe Perrin are delicious. Take the wife to the one, & the whole family to the other.

I'll have to try those someday. Thanks...

But yeah, the Friday & Saturday night shows seem to be at 11 PM now, for whatever reason. The only stuff I've seen there is "Hobo With a Shotgun", "Trollhunter", "I Saw the Devil" & "Black Death".

The Yahara. Right over the edge of the parking lot.

That's right. There's a sweet-ass renovated bike/walking path along part of its length now too. Only everyone brings their dogs out and you spend half the time trying to avoid dogs at 1/10 speed instead of biking. I've taken many pisses into that river when it got crowded at Mickeys.

There used to be a house for sale about 5 spots west of Mickeys in Willy St, a complete tear-down, but the location was awesome. I wanna say it was like $100 grand. I still sorta wish I had had the money.

Thanks to mojo for coming out!

What an incredible bar. They treat bands well too, hard not to get in trouble with unlimited taps and rails. I drank my weight in two hearteds.
