A friend posted the list on facebook last night. I looked over the line-up with these results of who I'd listen to:

4/16- Lucero & The Avett Bros.
4/17- Shooter Jennings
4/18- Gil Scott Heron (!!!!)... Last I heard, he was pulling hard time for coke distribution (AGAIN). Musically powerful, though, and would love to see him (no indie cred though-he old like me. Sly & The Family Stone(!!!)... Seriously, Sly's been on the wrong end of the pipe for decades, and every time rumors bubble up about him starting to perform again...well, let's just say that anyone going to Coachella actually expecting Sly to even show up, much less perform, is on dat pipe as well.

his new album comes out next month (it's in the TWENTYTEN thread fyi). hipsters seem to be all over it, so there may be some indie cred yet. it is a really good album though.

Guess he did his debt to society (AGAIN). And I saw it in the TWENTYTENthread, but got a message from rapidshare that it's copyrighted material.

There are a number of reasons why I would love to hit this up someday but man, those headliners are awful.

I mean I like some of their stuff but I expected much better for that festival.

This will be my 6th Coachella and you learn early on that you don't go for the headliners.

agree here. last year i got lucky with My Bloody Valentine and McCartney, but this year is def kinda lame. Looking forward to seeing what Gorillaz bring though.

soooooo much other talent to be found though. quite a few of my favorite bands from 2009.

Faith No More announces their first east coast show in more than a decade - to be held on July 5, 2010 to benefit the Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn (OSA). The show will be a part of a series of benefit concerts for OSA to take place at the Williamsburg Waterfront this summer.

The band, which regrouped in 2009 after a 12-year hiatus, said in an official statement they, "only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of Faith No More."

"The benefit shows will help fund the restoration and preservation of parks in North Brooklyn, and subsidize the cost of free concerts at the Williamsburg Waterfront," said Stephanie Thayer, OSA's Executive Director. "As nearby McCarren Park Pool is being renovated, OSA is pleased to continue its tradition of bringing outdoor music to North Brooklyn."

Tickets will be available to the public on Friday March 19th at 12:00pm EST at Ticketmaster.com, charge by phone 800.745.3000 and at the Nokia Theatre Times Square Box Office, where there is no service fee.

The Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn (OSA) www.osanb.org is a nonprofit organization helping to preserve and enhance green space in North Brooklyn. OSA raises funds, links community volunteers, and works in partnership with elected officials and agencies to develop new parks, and improve existing parks in Williamsburg/Greenpoint.

The Williamsburg Waterfront is located at North 8th Street & Kent Avenue on the East River in Brooklyn, NY.

Not a huge impact but..

UK bands’ Coachella appearances in jeopardy due to volcano

...

According to Gigwise.com, Bad Lieutenant, The Cribs, and Frightened Rabbit are among the bands currently stuck in London after having their respective flights canceled.

...

We should note that a number of the festival’s larger U.K. bands, including Muse, Gorillaz, Public Image, LTD, The Specials, and Florence & the Machine are already in the U.S. We’ll of course keep you update on any lineup changes and/or cancellations.
