You guys are aware that there is a whole "oldies circuit" with bands touring with only one or more of their original members but still using the same name, right? (For example I saw "Steppenwolf" 10 or so years ago and it was John Kay and a bunch of guys my age). At any rate, I've got two observations on the phenomenon:
1. In some cases, it's not a big deal AT ALL. For example, if KISS or the Four Tops or who ever want to keep sending people out there on tour, I don't see this as being any different than Cats or Rent or some other Broadway show going out on tour.
2. Even without the Ox and Moon, The Who is still Pete Townshend's band. Throw in Daltrey and its even more legitimate. This is not a case where the three members of CCR not named John Fogerty were trying to tour under that name (that shit was deplorable). Townshend wrote the songs and Daltrey sang them--that's good enough to be called The Who for 99% of the world.
I mean, guys, The Who are arguably the biggest sell outs of all time. KISS wishes they had three songs good enough to be used on top rated TV shows and countless others used in commercials. Nothing would surprise me with that bunch.
