Mine just changed...initial impression is mostly "yuck"

Changes I've noticed:

Biggest gripe: notification icon has moved from lower right of screen into the masthead and now scrolls off the screen.

- There's way too much white space visible when window is maximized, and they put rules down the borders to make sure you notice it.

- The application toolbar at the bottom has been moved to the side, making installed apps more obvious and a little easier to access.

- Friends currently logged in are displayed in the sidebar. I don't use FB chat much because I never bother to see who is logged in. Now that I see they're logged in, perhaps I'll chat more. I'm not sure that's an improvement.

There is no need to use facebook. Email + IM + microblogging + no quizzes or farmville = a better internet. I maintain an account only so people who don't know this can find me if they need to.

If I had to visit a different web page for each of my friends, I'd never keep up with them. And I'd miss a lot of great pictures and "listen to what my kid did" stories.

Yeah, there's a lot of pointless crap, but its easy enough to mute the Farmville/Mafia Wars stuff, though you can't do much about the quizzes.

yeah I block pretty much every application / game.

so far I'm okay with the change. Much more so than any other change they've done.

if only there were a site that could conveniently combine all three with a single login...i would totally use it

I'm sure it's a simple thing to do, but damn if I can figure out how to block them from showing up on my wall. Any help would be appreciated obs.
