Sounds like you really want to know, CMJ is nearly fucking dead, I'm out of the college radio biz, I don't care what is going on with my former company anymore since I'm doing my own music thing these days anyways. here's the massive purge
remember a few years ago when I was living in Philly and got fired?
I had been a music director for 3 1/2 years, I had made many contacts in that world and was working for a company that was able to make charts based on actual airplay data. During this time, CMJ was still running my name as the music director of my old station, I had tried several times to have cmj remove my name and to reflect the new music director's name...cmj never did.
Back in college, I had gotten into a fight with a former MD named Hillary, who was then working for a company called Planetary who got mad at me for not charting all of her records "I thought we were friends" she said. Later on that day, Tim Bornemann at AAM called me and did his usual monday afternoon chart my records speech, and then said that he was working this record with Hillary at Planetary...I said "Fuck Her, She's A Bitch"...I didn't realize Tim and Hillary were a couple, they were both kinda pissed at me for the next few years...I kinda felt like an ass.
3-4 years later, I'm at the CMJ marathon for the new company in philly (many of you met me at Haq's apartment, when I was kinda drunk). Well the next day I go to the AAM day show, have a couple of beers and I'm hanging out with friends, no biggie...I see Hillary and APOLOGIZE for what I said about her YEARS AGO...she went into a tirade about how I'm trying to extort records from companies for personal use by continuing to chart for my old 1000 watt station that I had been long gone from...she gets together with a friend (my co-worker, thatcher, formerly of the syndicate) Tim from AAM, and they plot this whole thing to get me fired, saying that I was extorting records and attempting to change unchangable fucking charts...meanwhile if you talk to companies like the syndicate or team clermont, you will know that I never once asked for a record the entire time I was at a paying job (while I was in college, that was a different story)
this makes no sense, I know, and I don't blame you if you've stopped reading by now.
Sounds like you were right about Hilary 4 yrs. ago.
