Capitalizing on the 90s nostalgia and retro cribbing happening right now. Probably should've kept it to a Top 100. I haven't seen a Morphine track yet, so as far as I'm concerned it's a big fat FAIL unless at least "Cure for Pain" shows up in the Top 10.

I actually like lists a lot (I got sucked into some Spin list the other night), but I can honestly say I have no interest in that one. One more reason (I guess) not to read Pitchfork.

Me too, I'm a big list guy but I've never really been that into lists of individual tracks I guess. I'm more into albums and artist lists because the discussion is more interesting to me. Also, because my high school/college years were in the 90's, I'm just really sick of hearing/reading about most of these artists.

The top-20 did have some stuff I've never heard so it was interesting in that sense. It's a little silly to me that Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden were all excluded from the top 20 and Smells Like Teen Spirit fell at #13. I know those are the "easy-way-out" selections but still...

It's like they're making fun of themselves with that top 10.

Agreed. I'm actually surprised that there wasn't a rap song as no.1, since you could argue the 90s was when hip hop really came out of its shell and overcame rock music in the charts.

I liked that list, but mostly just because it caused me to revisit many of those tracks that I hadn't listened to for awhile.

I haven't read pitchfork since 2005. They're a review site for 17 year olds.

I never actually read the reviews, but I'll listen to tracks now and then, and skim the awful lists.
