Man, I'm as leaky eyed as the next person, and as good as this show seems, I don't really have time to get depressed, frustrated or angry. The News is all I need for that.

I thought the teases were the best part. It made you excited when they actually found the dead body, which is kind a creepy feeling.

In my opinion this pilot was 100x better than the Zombie show.

Have heard this described as "Twin Peaks without a backwards talking midget or Kyle McLaughlin."

You must've overheard me when I saw the preview.

I didn't check it out because I assumed it was a cheesy "who-done-it."

Sounds like something I'll checkout via OnDemand.

That first hour was soooo boring. I'm on the fence about watching again.

Yeah, 12 Eps in, I don't think we find the murderers in the 3rd Ep.

yeah, but i would not be surprised if we've already met the murderer(s).

has anyone seen the original? i read an interview with the guy who wrote that and this one. he emphasized that this one won't be the same outcome as that one.

I finished watching it last night. The scene where the parents have to tell the young sons that their big sister is dead brought the waterworks like nothing this side of Brian's Song.

While that certainly had the faucet back on, what did me in the worst was when the father drives upon the scene where they are pulling the car out of the lake. Reminded me a bit of Sean Penn in Mystic River, but I found that scene pretty powerful as well.

i guess they could go this way, but i don't really think that's the case. I'm guessing ok, the boys rape her - but that's only the beginning of her night and we're in for a whole lot more shit

I watched the first three hours but am probably done with it. Painfully slow pace and no compelling characters. AMC shows are terribly overrated.

We'll probably Netflix these at some point... just heard a Slate podcast about it, sounds kinda good.

This shee is my appointment tv show right now. It's dark and brooding but I think it's pretty fun as well to sit there and speculate who did it.

As fun as it is well executed for a who-done-it.

Things are coming together too smoothly right now. I fully expect a nasty curve ball next week.

Great use of a Neko Case song last ep. Made me pull out "Fox Confessor......" for the first time in a while.

Yep, still a masterpiece.

It's veddy slow, but quite good.

My appointment TV is Game of Thrones. That shit tight. Peter Dinklage is pwning everyone.

Treme is my back up but it gets DVR and we watch The Killing live.

I watched the opener for Game of Thrones and have the last 2 eps DVR'ed but wasn't entirely sold after the first one. Still need to catch up. The first ep crammed a shitload of characters into one hour.

First blush, it seemed over the top T&A and violent. Not that I mind that but it seemed like laughably gratuitous like 80's HBO orginals. First & 10 or The Hitchhiker kind of nudity.

I'll stick with it for now.

i'm a little tired of the killing's constant red herrings. i mean, no way did bennett do it, right?

also, as someone who has not read the source material for game of thrones, i am loving it so far.

It's not Showtime, Derris. There's definitely that element, but it's not like the plot is all bunkum to get you to the next rack.

It's very political/intrigue driven, with lots of violence and english accents.

no. it's my way of saying they're being a bit too obvious with suspects. jasper and his friend are going to get roped back into this at some point. the killer on the original series hasn't been questioned yet. (that'll probably happen.) they keep bringing up a ton of unanswered questions and never even approaching closing up anything. i know it'll happen, but halfway through the series they're still throwing false leads all over. it's time to give the viewers some satisfaction on some level.

yes, and it's a painful source of regret. What a complete waste of time this turned out to be. Been enjoying (participating in) the hullabaloo of rage on the internet.

I thought it was great and preposterous at once. Like you said, lots of bashing going on around the nets but I thought it created mood and atmosphere brilliantly. Pretty much why I kept coming back.

In the age of the DVR, it's been really easy to just watch this during the week instead of Wipeout or some other summer stock crap.

Couple of funny things I've read among the hate:

1) Has there ever been a show make people hate a family of victims like the Larsen's better than this one?

2) In the finale, The Killing introduced us to a new TV character........THE GAS STATION ATTENDANT WHO REMEMBERS EVERYTHING....
