Interesting. Dave Cloud is barely known in his hometown of Nashville outside of the underground local music scene. He's definitely a little pervy, but aren't we all?

I read he'd toured Europe a couple of times so maybe he is better known over here. I'd say he's in the same ball park as Johnny Dowd and he's certainly much more popular in Europe than America, places like Holland, Germany etc. Think he's signed to a UK label as well, if I remember correctly. Anyway, I kinda like the album. It's got the rock n' roll crazy that you can't fake.

I thought he was quite well known after appearing in that beer advert. Was it Bud?

Might be my favorite album of the year.

Every year records come and go, records I listen to and really like. The more time passes, the fewer of these well-liked and enjoyed records go into permanent rotation. This is absolutely one of the few that I return to and expect to keep returning to for a long time to come.

Yep. Definitely one of my favorites of the past few years. I have no idea what they could do for a second record.

Fang: Landshark/Where the Wild Things Are

This reissue collects pretty much everything anyone cares about from Fang, the first two albums, the stuff from Rat Music for Rat People and a couple early songs off compilations. Sludgy, grungy hardcore With inane lyrics, Skinheads Smoke Dope, Destroy the Handicapped, etc... Band eventually broke up after the lead singer was arrested and did 6 years for manslaughter after strangling his girlfriend (how that's just manslaughter I'm not exactly sure, some bullshit about being too high to know what he was doing I believe). The Money Will Roll Right In was covered a couple times, lifting this otherwise historical footnote a bit out of obscurity. It's an pretty great song though so that's a good thing.

digging this big time. i'm not usually down for too much of the "nu-gaze" either, but these guys have something. the obvious requisite "sounds like slowdive, mbv, etc etc" do apply here, but i'm hearing more M83, a little bit of the xx vibe maybe (and some Ulrich Schnauss in there too). good stuff.

I hear The War on Drugs and Suicide in the chugging synth and more TWOD on the general atmospherics
