December 2011 had the least snowfall in recorded history here. I haven't even been up yet.

Today's forecast for Deer Valley:

Sunny, with a high near 56. South wind between 3 and 10 mph.

I'm afraid there will be no snow by the time we get there on Friday. I think we are scratching Canyons, as they'll be lucky to have a foot left by the weekend. I guess we'll just tool around Deer Valley on the groomers for a couple hours early and then drink our faces off.

Looks like some snow for Saturday. Sunday could be decent skiing. Enjoy.

Shit on the east coast has been straight inhospitable, and Portland OR (where I was for the holidays) was no better. I'd love to get out, but I really hate the idea of taking a bus up to fucking Hunter, so we'll see. Given the now-universal checked-luggage fees and the great distance between me and any decent snow, I'm strongly considering selling off my snowboard gear (minus the parts I wear) and just renting whenever I go, which is barely more expensive than the fee and saves me a whole lot of schlepping. The only wrinkle in this plan is that my girlfriend got me a gift certificate to the Burton store for a new bag (mine sucks and has no wheels), so I'd feel a little bad mooting that gift.

Went to Breck yesterday, conditions were shitty. I-70 was depressing on the way up, normally it's covered in snow but nothing this year. Luckily got to try out my new goggles and jacket yesterday, which were awesome.

Breck was bad on Wed? Twitter had me believe it was snowing all day. This season has been horrible in MOST of CO. Damn, Wolf Creek. Thinking about getting up this weekend for a half day or so. MLK weekend is usually crazy busy.

Haha. Is that you? I'm assuming.

I did a week in Utah in high school once. We went to Alta, Brighton twice, and Park City twice.

Great skiing.

yeah, i almost bailed right after this shot as i didn't even notice this photog until probably this exact moment.

it really is wonderful there. to be able to get to shit like Alta and Snowbird within 40 minutes from SLC is pretty crazy. we could really use the 2022 olympics here to improve the whole shitty I-70 situation.

Brighton and Solitude are on my list for the next visit.

Alta is my favorite of the Cottonwood resorts. When I lived in Salt Lake during residency and before kids I would be up there 2 days a week during the winter. Now that I live a bit north of SLC, Snow Basin is much closer and still pretty damn good.

Glad you got a little new snow while you were here e-stone.

Wifewilleatyou and I are just leaving Beaver Creek, the last few days have been really great here. I think they had JUST gotten snow before we arrived and most of the runs were open. I'm not a good judge though since I've never ski'd outside of MN and WI before. It's ridiculous to me that you can do this and enjoy 50 degree temperatures, I loved every second of it. Now were headed to Breck for a couple days but we done skiing, just gonna party.
