tried one for the first time ever this year because i was getting sick of hearing so much about it. it was drenched in so much sauce to try to disguise the fact that the meat was fucking disgusting. no thanks.

This discussion has gotten far too deep for a POS sandwich. What are the merits of Vienna Sausage? I love the jalapeno ones.

That was years ago? Seems like months at the most.

Also, i've never had a mc rib. Are you sure it's got any pork product in it?

Falling pork prices correlate exceedingly well to the periodic re-introduction of the Mc Rib, so I am going to say, "Yes, there is porcine meat in the Mc Rib".

So, essentially, the "if you don't like the mcrib sandwich you're a snob" argument boils down to

"I want to eat this demonstrably terrible [plenty of ammo available to explain how nothing in it is actually food] 'food product' and I want to like eating it and I don't want to get ANY shit for it."

That doesn't seem like a fair request. People can like stuff. Awful stuff, even. But they should expect a corresponding amount of scorn for it. That's how shit works. This has nothing to do with food critics, or people on the board, or anyone else telling you the obvious. It has to do with the obvious. It's made of complete bullshit, it's bad for you, and it doesn't even redeem itself by tasting good. Just cop to it.

Exactly. I'll cop to loving a McD's double cheeseburger and a coke for a hangover. But the McRib is openly inedible. And I grew up eating SPAM.

I think they are disgusting as well. It is a cafeteria rib patty with bland BBQ sauce. It's the sort of BBQ you find in tv dinners and frozen meals.
The only thing I take pride in about this sandwich is that the process for constructing it was patented by the College of Agriculture at the University of Nebraska. You can blame them for chicken nuggets shaped as Dinosaurs and crap like that as well.

I get what yr saying, and truthfully don't have a horse in the race--but the thing is, I don't think its others scorn for the sandwich and people eating it per se, its more the ironic nature in which the comments are made. As you said, people love plenty of horrible things. So why do people waste time scorning the McRib when a product like the Double Down is seen as a culinary experiment gone right? Both are horrible in taste and calorically.

Like I said in my first post, I eat maybe 1 when they come back. Mostly, just by accidently happening into a McDs when they come back.
