okay so i've moved to the random, which might just bite me in the ass later...

12) Who Made Who - AC/DC
This still makes me think of Maximum Overdrive where the soda machine is ejecting cans at a lethal rate, but goddamn this song has a rhythm to it. I onjly wish Bon Scott had lived long enough to make the last 20 years of AC/DC less redundant.

13)Dirty Harry - Gorillaz
defintely not an Automator production, in a good way. I can't help but shiffle a bit to the the keyboard intro. The rhymes are nothing special, but work well with the beat. Dangermouse has only impressed me so far, I just hope his album doesn't blow ass. ok back to the random....

hey, my habits are like the pendulum of life hon

14)My Block - Scarface
okay I'm pretty sure he could be rapping about raping 13 year olds and I'd still be a sucker for this beat. Ike Turner is the new Jabbo Starks as far as inescapable samples. Remember when J5's "Concrete Schoolyard was so inescapable? For a wifebeater the bastard sure could set a beat.

15)Burning Bridges (possible title) - The Arcade Fire
I wish i could say it sounded like some new radical single, but it sounds like all their other stuff. I'll stick to the Cure reissues, thanks.

15)Maxi-Yow-Mini - Shallow Be Thy Name
this sounds like 25 songs I've a;ready heard, but I can't really place a reference. TVOTR without the wankery? Dumb pop song that we should all hear.

Btw, Cotton, interesting group of friends. Reminds me of the time the guy I was dating asks..."So, would you be interested in going to swinger parties? My ex-gf and I used to go all the time and they reallllly turn me on." And most recently -- mind you, I haven't gone out with him in over a year -- he asked, "Gosh, I really miss you! Wanna get together? I'd love to have you piss on me." Uh...what?

Why are hot guys always the weirdest?

because we're stupid and need some women's intuition?

16)I'm Clean - Halo of Flies
I'm not really a fan of the AmRep catalogue, but If I had to pick something, this would definitely be it.

This woman's intuition told her not to call him again. Damn shame too -- I had such hopes for him. *snapping fingers*

17) Hollywood and Vine - Automato
I praised these guys awhile back and upon fifteenth listen the album leaves alot to be heard, but still I've never seen a Philly crowd moved more than than this show, whish should be saying something since we usually just stand there and now. at this rate I say the singles still rule. I just wish the majority of their DFA-produced album didn't suck so much...

Tania you should snap them in a "Z" formation!

18)Get Together - The Diskettes
Cute and poppy. Imagine Cub with some male vocals. and some handbels.

I'm always thinking about it, but since the position of semi-out-of-work-writer is perpetually filled out there I'm probably better off here. Plus, Philly is on par to being the next Detroit, so I should probably stick around to enjoy the renaissance of failing town revival.

this is more like it. Simple '30s piano and vocal track, complete with record hiss. This makes me want to eat the bar harder than he eats me. smokey, classy. I don't know why this sort of thing isn't played more often in bars nowadays, but it's a shame it isn't. Desolation, frightening sincerity...I need a cigarette now to fill the mood.

I own a bar, send it around...

Cotton, aside from me being super awesome, and your inherent bunkness, we have muchos in common. ;)

this wouldn't be the first time me inherent bunkness got in the way of my advancement...

fortunately, I'm an asshole who hates everything...though I'm glad we needn't just fight about the latte Stones output. Remind me to make fun of your Grateful Dead '80 penchant later, though.

All I know is, if Chase'd given him the new Mountain Goats album (as he did me), Cotton would NEVER be done with his music....

and, yes, I'm aware that it won't hit as hard for many people, but for me....Whoa Nellie! (in the most Harry Carey way possible)...
