No one pisses me off more than Lady Antebellum, for the name alone. I'd rather listen to Alan Parsons.

I'd never heard of Big & Rich so I looked them up on You Tube and watched the 'Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)' video.

Fucking hell.

I think it could explain why there are so many Americans living over here these days. War and poverty drove them to the New World, Big & Rich drove them back.

Whenever I run across this song, it reminds me of the pint-sized (think: sub-Squirrrgle height) impossibly chesty messed up teeth having (her mouth was too small to accomodate all her fangs) art school washout from my high school whom I re-encountered stripping at one of the local dens of ecdysiasm. Never took her for a likely pop-country fan -- though she was from the Dirty Dirty (home of Western Days), so maybe I should have -- but sure enough HL was dancing topless to Trace Adkins. (I think that's the artist in question.) Kind of blew my mind. Though not as much as the fact that HL was girl I knew in high school who turned out a stripper. (Given what my friends turned nemeses had to say of the high school scene, I would have anticipated JW aka "Popsicle Girl" to end up getting naked for money. Because she was an "whore".)

Back in the late-'90s/early-'00s, Cowboy Troy was a frequent caller to the sports talk station of choice here in Dallas. He went by the handle "Troy The T-Sip," because he was a Longhorn alum/superfan.

Cum Dumpster Chesney is the absolute worst.

That dude who is the new "crazy/rocker" guy in the lineup of modern country (his hit is called/about/beyond terrible and he can't actually have listened to) "Springsteen"

And I bet that somehow Stu, living in Nashville and working in the industry is still somehow less exposed to this drivel than I am.

I should've just looked at my cousins' profiles on fb to see what their music "likes" are.

That would be Eric Church. If he pisses you off, go check out Brantley Gilbert.

I'm exposed to daily mentions of these artists, and am aware of their popularity and perceived worth in the touring market, but I haven't heard a new mainstream country song in years unless it was accidental or in my office via forced listening. I think the last country song I purposely checked out was "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert.

I'm not familiar with his work, but Brantley Gilbert is one of the most punchable names in history. Sounds like a radio jock/pro wrestler/porn star

I was thinking NCAA Lacrosse.

But -- men's? Women's? Up in the air!

Kurtz, you're just conflating the name with old Brantley Richardson on Dog Vent Light. And...his brother.

Interesting fact about all the names you guys have mentioned:

We need 12" vinyl copies of their releases for this photo. From what I can tell from the internet searches I have done, none of them have vinyl versions of their releases. I think it says something that the labels that represent these "artists" aren't willing to sink any money into pressing "boutique" vinyl for them.

I think it says that they sell 90% of their physical product at Wal Mart. And they haven't sold vinyl at Wal Mart since 1986.

Based on what I sporadically see on that free country video channel, I'd go for any of those modern guys who dress like they're alt rockers.
