I know the stories pretty well and spent 6 fun months wandering around nz in my youth so when the storytelling lags I admire the scenery and thus get through the 3 hour tours pretty cheerfully. Worried about what's shaping up to be 8 hours of the hobbit though...

My wife and I saw The Hobbit on Saturday and both enjoyed it way more than we thought we would.

Still don't see how this will be 3 movies as this one seemed to get more than halfway through the book, but I'm on board for whatever Jackson does with this now.

FYI, we saw it regular frame rate in 2D and in one of those Studio Grill movie/food places so seating was comfortable and roomy. I think all of those helped factor into a positive experience. From what I've heard, the high frame rate looked weird and made a lot of CG way more obvious (much like how a lot of the really high MHz big TVs do now). Even in regular-frame-rate 2D, I could see some minor flaws and rough areas so I can only imagine.
