Find me something on the Burr/Hamilton duel, Mike--THAT was civil discourse.
The Burr/Hamilton duel is quite the controversial event, depending on who you believe. There is the group who believe that Hamilton only accepted the duel out of necessity and political position and that he missed intentionally or even simply fired his shot into the air. Others call bs and say that Burr simply won the duel without any shenanigans. Either way, Hamilton became a martyr to his supporters and Burr was forced to flee to the west. Here in Louisiana, Burr attempted to put together a coup to overthrow the US government and make himself leader. VP to traitor in just a few short years. Duels, however, would be great to bring back as a tool to use when civil discourse breaks down. That will never happen, though, and the monsters will keep on monstering.
