the tradition of baseball managers wearing uniforms goes back to the days when most were player-managers.

Pure ASS.

Not for nothin', but if a black coach wore outfits like this he's be accused of trying to "ghetto" up the NFL. Show some fucking class dude.

Lemme think about this for a sec...

Alright, did it.

I once heard it explained that the reason baseball managers wear uniforms is that between baseball managers, football coaches and basketball coaches, baseball managers are the only ones that regularly have to come out on to the playing field instead of sticking to the sidelines.

Whatever.

Steve

Right. Baseball managers/coaches can wear whatever they damn well please, but in order to step foot on the playing field, they must be in uniform, per the MLB rulebook. Connie Mack had his coaches make all on the field changes, for he couldn't leave the dugout in the suit.

And Mike, I looked for a picture of Wimp rocking the loudass plaid blazer, but couldn't find one. Sorry.

i think a baseball manager would look retarded standing around in the dugout in a suit. how's he gonna kick dirt on the ump when he's wearing bruno maglis?

as for belichick, yeah he looks pretty sloppy but he could run around in this for all i care, just as long as he keeps winning.

I like Belichick. I figger, if you spend some quality time at the top of the heap, you can do as you damn well please for the rest of eternity.

Yeah shiv, that was kinda my point on baseball managers---there has to be a middle ground somewhere. Not a suit, but the uni on an old man is...funny.

As for Belichick, success does make you look better (kinda like when the Broncos switched uni's----they looked like shit until they won two straight Super Bowls), but I can't help thinking that Belichick and Parcells always look like the kind of guys who would park in the handicap space at an all-you-can-eat buffet joint citing their "fattness"

there's this all-you-can-eat place in the next town over called the old country buffet that i think strictly caters to the trailer park crowd. it's pretty scary.

Remember when Madden used to rock "The Sipowicz" (short-sleeves with a tie) as Raiders coach?

To be fair, at the time, this was a NASA thing, and those dudes allegedly put a man on the moon. Again, success.
